Those interested in the future science of Warhammer 40K may be interested in the following news article from the BBC News pages.

Could this be the starting point for those pesky Eldar vehicles???

Or is anti-gravity still just time-travel!

:)

That's pretty cool. I was rummaging through the web some months back, looking for the plans on how to make a levitating globe. I was going to use it in a peice of art I was working on. Anyways, I found that there is a kind of fringe culture around antigravity. There are alot of websites dealing with this subject. If any of you are intrested in some theories and practices. Lots of experiments and plans for vehicles and such.

Well, sorry to say that Newton still rules in this respect. You could, theoretically float a tank on this magnetic system (trains have been doing it for a few years now), but would then need a tracked unit under it to keep it up, kind of negating the entire point, really!  :D

The only way that I can see to do it would be to boost the Earths natural gravity and at the same time repell it from the vehicle. I guess that it will be a few years yet.

Or you could try to create a local gravity well with a difrent gravity from the earth. This of course is impossible with todays tech. :(
Although I think we will have true anti-grav vehicles before we can time-travel :D

Yeah, but not for the passenger. Hey, didn't some lab move a particle through time or am I thinking of teleportation experiments?

Well, it has long been theorised that particles can move through time, since you can take the time arrow off a particle plot. In fact, there is a theory that the entire universe is made up off one littel particle moving backwards and forwards creating thousands of itself!  :O

Jimbo,

Interesting article. Thanks for sharing.

Magnetics is an interesting field.

Shalom,
Maksim-Smelchak.

P.S.
I also noticed an article about why "Fantasy games 'not for geeks'."

I once read an article that contained a theory that what we percieve as mass was simply the motion of charged particles in a omni-present field.  If true, this would allow for a unified field theory, which would allow anti-gravity engines to be built.  However, it was highly theoretical, and therefore, had no practical application date.  I would say that until we achieve unified field theory, anti-grav is pretty much out of the question.  It does make for a nice jumping off-point for musing about anti-grav, though.
