I have wondered about this a while. Does anyone actually play Eve Online here, or have any comments on how it plays and whether it is worth getting into?

Thanks.

A couple of people at Port Maw play or played it. There's a fairly large thread about it.

Thank goodness that my PC is a little old! I could see myself seriously dropping the required cash, and way too much time on this game.... Of course, I may be able to get it working on the old machine.... Argh! Looks so cool!

I play it. It's a cracker of a game and very addictive. The ships and weapon option are pretty extensive (from frigates, cruisers, battleships). You've got loads of careers. Here's a few:

Pirate - pray on others in low sec
Bounty Hunter - Hunt people for cash
Business man - manipulate the markets to make isk
Builder - build things from ammunition to mighty space stations
Miner - a dull profession where you chew rocks

However, the game is very unforgiving. The learning curve is huge:

Pretty much expect to be destroyed, scragged or otherwise scattered across the starscape within your first week of play and you will loose your ship.

Oh, and there is one rule in eve that you should stick to:

Don't fly what you can't afford to loose!
