I wonder if forgeworld prices will stay suppressed? And if they change will they give a warning? That could cause a resin meltdown! ![]() |

Looks like the chaos and IN battleships stayed the same prices, the vengeance and dauntless went up $5 as did all the SM escort blisters, repulsive went up $2 as did the ADmech cruisers. the rest of the in escort blisters and the marine strike cruiser went up 3 bucks. |

£20 for 4 land raiders! Jesus, glad I've got my armies. Stangley one of the questions on GW's feedback sheet for call to arms was "Did you buy a new army for this tournament?". I'm guessing the answer by everyone was no and with this price increase will stay no. |

But because people still buy these, they can rise price again. Price rise, people complain, still buy, price rise. Apart from chaos BFG fleet I bought last week, I have not bought _any_ SG stuff in about year (two? Used from ebay does not count). When they released chaos infantry, that was my last to buy. Because price is not "correct" (I thought of buying LR box few months ago, but did not, too pricey). And only that new 40K starter box from 40K. Because price was correct. |

For anyone looking for a Tau BFG fleet, I'd recommend the Japanese fleet from GZG's full thrust line. It's an awesome line of miniatures for a fraction of the cost. The thing about many of the specialist games ranges is that so many of the product lines can be easily proxied with other makers. There isn't a lot that has the look and feel of a BFG imperial or chaos fleet, but for most tanks, infantry, fantasy football figures, undercity gangers, etc., there's something. If GW prices themselves out of a given person's purchasing range, they merely become a provider of free rules that the person uses with other miniatures. As for "people still buy it," they actually don't. You can figure out GW's unit sales decline rate quite easily from their yearly financials. Revenue = price * units sold. If price goes up and revenue goes down, you know less units were sold. The quarterly and yearly financials give you enough info to make appropriate average unit costs for GW's different operating regions. My math shows that GW, on average has 65-70% of the unit sales they had 5 years ago. It's not a perfect estimate, but the underlying principles are sound. I know I won't be buying any stuff from GW with the possible exception of the plastic infantry. There are so many other providers with great products at a fraction of the price. |

Hmm I think this is going to hurt them more than us (buyers). I mean the old plastic land raiders (or even the old metal ones - and they are rare) are soooooo much cheaper than this. Competition from used/ebay stuff must be a problem for SG. So Im surprised of this rise - maybe a sign that they are losing money? |

As an aside, there is no need to contemplate the reasoning behind the price increase. The cost of metals has risen quite quickly and so far we haven't had that increase transferred back to us. GW posted a release explaining why it was happening some time before the actual increase. Checking the cost of tin for the last several years and other mini produces who deal in metals shows GW isn't alone in the price increase. |

The AdMech cruisers (light and normal) have been 12 pounds from their moment of release. As far as I know all Battleships went from 18 to 20 pounds. Strike Cruisers got upped from 7 to 8 (Forgeworld alternative = 6) pound. |

Hehe.  ![]() I too haven't bought anything directly from GW in more than a year, and by the looks of things I don't think I'm going to either. As previously mentioned I might purchase the odd plastic infantry set, but most other stuff will now either be FW or DRM/EW (Speaking of: let's hope their prices don't rise as astronomically as GW...and even if they do get a hike, they'll still be very competitive compared to GW) |
