I played a friend tonight who had a nice Forgeworld Grey Knights force. I can't seem to find the rules online to link to but I have a copy if anyone wants it. It basically gives them a shroud (-1 to hit) and makes them especially nasty in close combat plus all the advantages of Space Marines. My orks got completely beaten back and broken but in the second game my traitor marines managed a very lucky last minute win by breaking some land raiders just in time to push them off an objective.

Has anyone else tried them? They are very tough to fight against but quite an interesting force. I think they are an offshoot of the Inquisition force rules. This is the first time I've played against them.

Hena has been keeping an index and linkpage of all the fan/experimental/official lists here:

http://www.players.tacticalwargames.net ... ...20Lists

Is the list you have been using the one from the inquisition task force?

I have played GKs a few times.  But not really enough to make a decent comment on the lists.

Whilst I feel that the Hyperios in that army list is a bit odd (A Hyperios is meant to be a Whilwind launcher on the back of a Land Raider, not an AA gun), the army list itself looks a lot of fun, and not packed full of a bazillion special rules / new units / fiddly situations (Which Epic army lists should try to avoid in my opinion!).

It looks like a fun, workable army list!

We swapped the Hyperios for normal raiders because we didn't like the rules for that. It's almost impossible to hit at -2, if they are difficult to shoot at for whatever fluff reason I would prefer them to have an increased saving throw rather than being impossible to hit in the first place at least that way you have the hope that they will screw up their dice rolls. I'll post the battle report up next time if anyone's thinking of giving them a try.

From a quick glance it seems that some unit are too cheap and the Shrouding is way too good (-2 to-hit is overpowering).

I'd argue that it probably isn't applicable at this scale in any case
