So the wife is off to Azerbaijan for a couple of weeks (preparing myself for 2 weeks solid wargaming
) and a last minute hardware failure forced the purchase of a new laptop (a combined pressies apparently from my family for the last three Christmases, birthdays etc we didn't get anything).We had a tablet pc 4 years back, it as okay, nothing great. We thought we'd try again with a ?600 HP TX2000. Its great. A touch heavy as its a cheap model but really tablet pcs are light years ahead of what they were. The handwriting recognition is brilliant (it can read my wife's handwriting and I can't), the touchscreen makes stuff like browsing a doodle (and turns off when the pen gets close), the media centre and dvd +-R drive with lightscribe means she won't get bored and it actually manages to run vista. The two mics work well with voice recognition as well. We can't muster the courage yet for the fingerprint reader
When she gets back we'll check out Hindi on it as well. Oh and I'll buy something for readydrive? (the usb flash disk speeding up thing) to try as well.
The screen is a widescreen so a bit disappointing as a 'proper' 12.1 I find is better for A4 work, but oh well.
Only real problem is we only have one...
