While I was working at CAL001's place the other day I had an idea, what if we were able to pick a day in the year and make it an international day for a game of Epic, maybe see how many games we could get up and posted worldwide? Might sound a little silly, but we could even have some sort of chart to show what army was a winner and just how many games were played. What does everyone think? |

I like it. May be worth looking for a day that a tournament is running somewhere to maximize the number of games? |

I would be very pleased to support such a thing through Firebase. Perhaps something as simple as: INTERNATIONAL EPIC DAY xxxx date is Epic Day! This means that if you turn up to: - GW store 1 - GW store 2 - GW store 3 etc. On xxxx date, you'll be able to see and take part in some huge Epic games! If you want, you can along your own armies and join in, or you can simply come along and find out what Epic is all about... I reckon the UK could muster a couple of locations (One Nottingham, one London)... I'm not sure about the rest of the world. Perhaps several tournaments could be organised for the same day in a bunch of different locations? |

I would have no trouble setting it up here in Sweden. Either in a location close to me or at the gamestore. If I just could get hold of the swedish gamers here it would be a start. |

Even better if you can get GW to agree. |

(Mephiston @ Jun. 17 2008,10:36) QUOTE Even better if you can get GW to agree. I don't think it'd be a problem ; Warhammer World in Nottingham is always open to player-organised games and is SG-friendly, whilst there's at least 1 store in London I could count on to offer 4 or so 6x4 gaming tables for the day. It's win-win as far as I can see, the Epic community gets to show off its game, and the GW stores recieve extra footfall. |

You wouldn't fancy bimbling down the M1 for a day of gaming in London? I think picking a couple of central locations in the UK would be better than scattered gaming all over the place... it would seem more like an 'event' if all the tables were taken up by Epic, rather than just one, is my thought. |

Well, thats an option too. Guess setting a date would be the best place to start! |

My thoughts were even simpler than stores, I thought even just the idea of the locals getting together and having a bash at someones place and then being able to show off some pics to fill up the battle reports section, and maybe have a tally of how many games were played worldwide. I think games stores running it would be great and tournaments would be even better! Lets keep the ideas going! ![]() |

I like it Drew, I am willing to through my hat in and grab a game for the worlwide comunity. Stores are fine by me and it would demonstrate that there is a fan base there that some GW locations dont know about or understand. Cheers Aaron |

A really good idea ![]() I also agree with the others that doing this on "GW turf" is an excellent idea - and one that they would then possibly be prepared to promote. As "summer hols" are coming up, and there seems to be a gap in the tournaments calendar; How about trying for some time mid-end July?? |

If we can pin down a date within one week, I'll still have time to advertise it in Firebase. Doing it on GW's home turf is definitely important... that's where the majority of the next set of Epic gamers will come from. I can see about finding a London GW to use, towards the end of July as Ginger suggests. |

Another even crazier idea might be to hold a true "World Championship", using a common scoring system to see who came out top over a given number of games. While this "World championship" would need a little longer than a single day, and would need a little bit of organising, I am sure it would be achievable - and would provide a means for everyone to compete for the coveted title of "EPIC world champion". Of the top of my head,

I don't know if armies need to be posted beforehand ; I was seeing this as a more informal affair that would help introduce Epic to the newbies, rather than being an event for us Grognards. I could see some kind of link-up as being desirable mind you... at the least the next issue of Firebase could have a gallery of photos taken around the world at the events.... and with the 'unlimited' range on Deathstrike missiles it would definitely be funny to lob a Deathstrike at a city on another continent. ![]() If this is to go ahead, we're going to need someone to volunteer to run / organise an event in each suitable area. I reckon I can handle London (I think I know a GW with a good games room that will support this), that just leaves the rest of the world. ![]() |
