Is there anybody here who has played this old world-conquest game? I have a couple of questions...

Not only did I play it frequently but I still own it.  I can't part with any game that has miniaturized mushroom clouds. :D

Indeed.

So, what I'd like to know is:
1) Are the 3rd edition rules the same as the "Challenge for the New World Order" supplement?

2) If I get the above mentioned supplement and the Mega map do I need the original game at all?

I don't know!  I have the original game and I have no idea what version it is.  Without knowing that I can't imagine answering the other questions.  I'll check it out when I get home and maybe I'll have an answer for you then.

I have this version of Supremacy.

The rules in this version are Version 3.0, subtitled "Challenge of the New World Order" If you mean this set, then, yes, they are the same.

No. you would not need the earlier release of the game (with the purple map on the cover, not the collage of war images).

Thanks!

And I found out the 3.0 rules are not exactly the same as the mega supremacy rules. The 3.0 rules update the basic rules to mega supremacy standard but don't include all the supplemental rules.

Yes. And, perhaps more frustratingly, the "Mega Supreamacy" supplement book, which collects the rules from the various expansions, pre-dates the Mega-Map, and, therefore, does not include any of the Mega-Map rules. I once tried to compile my own Mega book with all of the rules (including Mega Map), but gave up when  I realized none of my friends would try it anyway.
