I just read that France's last World War I vet has died. He was 110. I can't imagine there are all that many left now. I think there is one American WWI vet still alive.

That is something, at 110 ! ?I don't think many people realize that the French (as well as the UK) ?took significantly more casualities in WWI then WWII. Over 1 million KIA and 4 times that WIA for the French ... ?I also think many non-Euros don't understand how much damage was done to all the major powers involved ... UK(including ANZACs), France, Italy, Germany, Austro-Hungary and Turkey ... and WWI was the warm up for WWII. The seeds sown by WWI and the aftermath, set the stage for WWII ... and even many of the situations we find ourselves in today. May he and all his comrades rest in peace ...

The passing of the Old Guard is a saddening thing. RIP
