Well, my flight is pushed back to the 22nd, so now I shall rant.

And now I shall delte my rant as action is being taken at various levels, and one might casually search the net :)

Good lord, seeing this sort of muck happen on this scale is bad. Hang in there, you and the Mrs. both.

She was unimpressed by my statement that I would now miss the games I had arranged :) I guess she thinks it is the least of our probelms :)

In all fairness to your wife it IS the least of your problems.  I can totally see her frustration.  Anytime you work for the government cow (even a global one) you are going to see this type of thing, unfortunately.  Lots of money, positions that pay well and allow travel, little oversight.  The end result is that the system gets dominated by those who can navigate the beaurocracy the best, not by the most qualified people who want to do their job.  Your wife has my sympathies.

I despise politics.  :(  Good luck getting this sorted.

On the plus side, I realised that I was going to find it difficult to assemble the greenskins for Thursday. I am around anytime you can make it. Just let me know.

Glad there is a plus side CS :)

Mosc - I've worked in the British Civil service and been given the job of getting someone fired and one thing I learnt is that you stick to the facts and one line. If you want to go after someone for a fictious reason (I never would I hasten to add) you still have to stick to the same story. the sheer incompetence in the way she is being pursued just smacks of arrogance.

Sorry for your wife.

Again this shows the UN needs to change. (I'll stop the politics here).

Hmm...  I find your problem rather embarrassing, Chris.

The U.S. Foreign Policy apparatus is shaped in large part by political appointments.  Many would say that this compromises the professionalism of American government officials abroad.

It is very tempting to get into the recent politics involved -- vis. Wolfowitz -- and, frankly, the current administration has not distinguished itself by avoiding political appointments.  However, this is a long-term, structural problem, some of it arising with the wholesale creation of a foreign policy/military apparatus during World War II.

Chris and Usha, I really hope this gets sorted out soon. Nothing worse than all this uncertainty (and for NO good reason by the sounds of it).

It sounds like the Epic games will be there when you're back so thats something to look forward to as you work your way through all the political rubbish.

My prayers are with you both.

All the best mate,
Steve.
