There's this dude, see, named Larry Todd. You can find out a little bit more about him here.

Back in the 80s (70s?) he wrote and illustrated an interesting story called "The Warbots." The concept was about the development of armored walkers. Here are a few scans. You like?

I've got the book with those, and many more!, in it: Body Armor 2000!

He traces the future "history" of, essentially, power armour: with tanks being the first kind of "power armour", then"walking forklifts" up to "force field encased metahumans with metal-infective nanos that turn all of a planet's metals and plastics to slaved weapon systems"... ?a fun read! ?

Eventually the armour becomes levitating spheroids with amorphic weapon "potentials"... piloted by combat-zen yogis! ?*laugh*
