In January my next duty station is Ethiopia. No more Bangladesh! Plenty of real war but not much pretend. Anyone know of anyone? |

Good luck with that, somehow I doubt there is a game store there. But you could always convert others stationed there. Duty station? Brit Army i'm guessing? |

United Nations actually  My wife has a 6 month contract with the World Food Program there and I pick up work from agencies (as I have here in Bangladesh), helped by the UN's spouse employment policy.Plus I'm a 'specialist' in conflict related stuff and Ethiopia sadly is great for that. As pointed out last night I'm a kind of international vulture! |

From what I see, it's all Live Fire/Wet Work in that region of the World. Not to mention the disease and illness ... But on the lighter side, the Arch of the Covenent is rumored to be there ...

No idea about that. By the way, i'm trying to get a UN job, too! A shame we don't have a stronger relationship so that you could give me a helping hand. By the way, is Ethiopia so bad? i heard that most of the trees planted in the UN program for this year were planted there. |

How nice, you can re-group under the shade Depends what you mean by bad and which part of the country you are in. Certainly the FCO is not recommending travel to the area where they had a team kidnapped Which agency? Which nationality are you? What job are you after? Tried UN Volunteers if you are desperate? |

Yes, the Ethiopians have either an incredible replica or THE Ark of the Covenant. It is the only place in the world with a living legend of the Ark, the President says they have the Ark, and they guard the temple as if they had it. There are a LOT of archeological sites there that you should check out too if you have the means. Check out here. He is the archeologist who also found the real Mt. Sinai. If you go take lots and lots of pics!!! |

Agency? whatever! Nationality? Spanish Kind of job? anything engineering-related (i'm a mechanical/material engineer) By the way, i'm not yet so desperate as to try UN volunteers! If i don't get a job there i will have to undergo a postgraduate year (similar to a Master, but scientifically oriented). But, you know, i think i will feel really good if i could join an organization in which i would be sure that my work will help people in need. A shame i didn't study architecture or any other building-related career, as those seem to be the most needed posts

Yes, pics of the ancient ruins and older structures would be cool. And the Ark of course ! (I made a 6mm version of the Arch based on the OT and Indy J.! Not painted yet !). And the only way I'd go with the UN in that region is if I was part of an Army unit wearing blue headgear and very well armed and armored !
