Thanks guys. We had a great weekend.
Soccer games with the kids on Saturday.
Dinner served family style at an Italian restaurant - bruschetta, calamari, spinach salad, caesar salad, chicken pesto linguini, spaghetti and meatballs, chicken parmesan, chicken saltimbocca, zucotta cake, pound cake with ice cream and bananas foster, and lemon cookies. Absolutely stupid quantities of food. Needless to say, we could barely walk when we left and we have a fridge full of leftovers.
My seven year old lost a bet on how many reading points he would earn in school this term, so he had to "cook" supper for us on Sunday. That really means I had an excuse to make him stay in the kitchen and spend quality time with me while cooking. So, sunday we had country style dinner at home - pinto beans, mashed potatos, cornbread, rouladen (not really a southern US recipe, but definitely "meat and potatos" southern style comfort food), and raisin pie instead of a birthday cake.
I don't think we're going to actually cook anything this entire week...
I got in a full game of Civ4 on slow speed game settings with my wife running interference to keep the kids from harassing me too much. (Diplo win, with a space race victory that would have followed shortly.)
And I even managed to study several hours for my midterm in History of the English Language.
All in all, not too shabby.
