A chap living in the US with 10 posts on Warseer tells us that he has Earth-shattering news from England.

Colour me skeptical. :D

But doesn't he essentially restate what you told us, with regards to the 'separate entity' concept?

He seems to rebadge what E&C got from Andy that might, possibly, maybe, hopefully happen at some time down the line as something that is going ahead now.

Jervis told me that one option is that SG would essentially be split up, with some games being put into eternal stasis (A 'final' blood bowl boxed set to last the ages), whilst others would recieve ongoing support.

In the case of ongoing support, the best way to make them financially viable would be to have entirely seperate companies for each system, thus you'd have a 'Epic Games Workshop' company, and a 'Warmaster Games Workshop' company and possibly a 'BFG Games Workshop' company, with the other systems being put into stasis.

Restarting SG as a single umbrella company didn't seem to be an option at that time.

"Fanatic failed because it was top heavy, and because with all that investment we only managed to halt the decline of the SG systems, not increase their sales (Overall)"

Paraphrased from Jervis.

Andy says that decisions are being taken at the moment as regards what to do. (And that could well be 'do nothing for two plus years')

Let's link to that thread as it has one very interesting post in it. Question was Anybody have any insider information about the future of SG?

And the interesting answer

Yes I do. Specialist games will not be dying. It will be moving towards its own entitiy, similar to FW or BL. It was almost axed but this solution was but forward and in essence saved SG. It will have its own design team and miniature desgners. How the specifics are going to work or when the official roll out will be I do not know right now. Last I heard J.J. was being interviewed to run the company. All this is from a source I trust. You can believe it or not, that is up to you. On a related note there will be, next year, worldwide tournements for all SG. I know that Chicago will be the Warmaster one, Seattle will be the BFG one and Nashville will be the Epic one. As for times and dates that is still in the works but again, I trust the source. Do what you will with this information. If you do just a little hunting on your own I am sure you will be able to confirm all that I have said.

I hate to be pessimistic/cynical, but given GW's track record I'll believe when I see it. I truly do hope that GW spins off SG as a separate entity like Black Library. I think that's the only way Epic will receive adequate support.

I would take that with a grain of salt.  For instance:and Nashville will be the Epic one
makes little sense.  There's no GW infrastructure in Nashville any longer.  Nashville is not a major metropolitan area (like Atlanta, for example, a 4 hour drive) and that's GW's marketing focus to the extent they have shut down profitable stores (like Nashville) to focus assets into those markets.  The distribution center for the US is in Memphis (3 hour drive from Nashville) and there is a Battle Bunker there.

I'll file this under "probably bogus" and treat the credibility of the rest of the post accordingly.

I am skeptical, if not for other reasons then because it sounds good. Its been long since I have heard any news that could be categorizes as good. So it must be lie.
