I just braved the local store again.  This time to buy some paint (Boltgun colour, Chaos Black and Ultramarine blue if anyone is interested!)

This time there were a fair few people in there.  I managed to avoid the normal fake hello's and reached the paint section.  Picked the ones I wanted when I got collared by the store manager.

The coversation went along the lines of -

Hello, what are you after today, oh Epic, anything else? No oh ok then, do you play 40k?  That long ago, do you want to try it out, we've got boards ready, no oh ok.  You play NetEpic *blank look*, second edition epic rule base, right ok.. bye then..

So basically that's going to be my defence from now on.  Whenever they ask if I play 40k I'm going to say no only Epic and then tell them about NetEpic in great detail!

Oh, we are interested!   :p

Your latest visit a GW store is similar to one I had a number of years ago at the one near me. As soon as he found out the only game I played was epic (or other games which GW no longer produced), he left me alone.

I've got a fair few things to paint in Ultramarine colours for my chapter to fill in the gaps.  So as soon as I get the whole lots I'll post photo's.

Plus when I get around to it I'll post some Squat photo's...

All the great games seem to have disappeared from the GW stores... I loved Man O War, Blood Bowl and Space Hulk.  Most of which are sadly RIP now...

Of course Epic is the only reason I go in to get paint though, seems to confuse most staffers in GW stores...  :D

Some of the employees are easily confused.

I love the look on their faces when I tell them I only play epic.

At least this experiance was not negative. He at least offered the Corporate spew and then moved on. Not a major issue for me.

That store met GW's worldwide quota for store employees who play epic.  :D

Well, In Colchester I even managed to do 2 BFG demonstrations :) It was great seeing the GW staff looking at me and Richard (the Imperial among us) like some kind of weird dudes. They had NO IDEA how the game was played. Sad but true. They seem to have sold some BFG stuff after those demos, though, since they commented as such to Iain (our resident eldar corsair). Pitty we lost 2 ships to a teen horde grab-crash attack on the process :(

Later I learned from Iain that they called me "the X-men Specialist Gamer". Weird thing happen when your real name is Xavier ;) I consider the nickname they gave me as praise even if I think they would think otherwise. LMAO :P

Regards,

Xavi

I count myself lucky then that all of the staff at MK play necro, mordheim and bloodbowl. The manager plays epic and one other is stating out with orks There is talk of doing some warmaster too.

I know most of them play BFG but I don't play that.

Mine had 2 also.  One is now manager and the other moved to a different city to manage a different GW store.

Of course, the local store is closing and the guy who moved may not be long for GW either.
