I recently finished reading The Da Vinci Code. Great book. A must read. Even though the plot is fictional, a lot of the information presented made me think a great deal about the Catholic Church as I know it.

Yes, I liked the "Da Vinci Code" too ! A lot of good history + good fiction ! Some Christians found it to be offensive ?! I just thought it was interesting fiction ... but I like Sci-Fi, so go figure !

Hi Guys,
I'm reading Steven Pressfield's "Tides of War" about the Peloponnesian War in ancient Greece. I'm very much enjoying the novel.
Shalom, Maksim-Smelchak.

Quote (Dwarf Supreme @ 25 Dec. 2005 (05:05)) | I recently finished reading The Da Vinci Code. Great book. A must read. Even though the plot is fictional, a lot of the information presented made me think a great deal about the Catholic Church as I know it. | There are also a lot of inaccuracies in the Da Vinci Code even though Dan Brown says it is based on real organisations and facts, many of these organisations bear no resemblance to the real organisations and a lot of the so called facts are in fact fiction!
Having said that I did enjoy the book and it is a good story.
Channel 4 once did an excellent expose (hosted by Tony Robinson) which debunked much of the book.

Hi!
Its a thought provoking book. While much is inacurate, it presents something which the "public" finds enthralling...
.. the "humanizing" of Christ.
It makes him more relatable too many.
Its provoked a lot of discussion, which is a good thing.

I recently read a very good AH book "Disaster at D-Day". It was written like a history book complete with real (& imagined) references. It is OOP but I got it from Amazon's used book dept. Really good book, very much unlike the quite terrible "Fox on the Rhine" I read two years ago, which was complete with Tom Clancy style & ending.

Hi Peter and Gang,

I'm not sure if you can get it from Borders. I buy all of my books new or used with the majority being purchased used. I think you can get it from Borders, but you'd have to check. I'm pretty sure that all of my copies of Steven Pressfield's books were bought used.
They're all quite good that I've read so far.
My girlfriend, Diana, is reading one of his novels about the Amazons right now.
I recommend reading "Gates of Fire" first about Thermopalae.
Shalom, Maksim-Smelchak.

Hi!
I'll try and see then. Assuming the book is in print, I should be able to get it.
