Yes, I'm almost leaning towards the Support Craft rating (even though we'd use it as a Heavy Bomber).  As Orange mentioned, a B-52 today is much more tactical in use (Hvy CAS). Then in Vietnam, where areas were submitted to flights of 3 5-52s carrying 13 tons of bombs each ...  Where today, they are usually deployed as a single bomber, carrying SLAMs/Cruise Missiles, etc.  So I'm thinking the Chaos Harbinger would be deployed on the Epic battlefield as a Heavy Bomber in a CAS role, subject to ADA/AAA and CAP (if you play CAP, we don't). I'm still trying to justify to myself the cost ... about $70 USD + post !?!?!  ???

I think it would have a place on the Epic battlefield doing what the US uses the B-52 for - heavy close air support. However this leads to the issue of airpower dominating the Epic battlefield. ?At the same time it is fulfilling a role similar to Artillery, but may be harder to elminate.

The introduction of the Harbringer into Epic leads back to the discussion of how Airpower - CAS should influence the Epic battlefield.

At the very least the Harbringer could be made into an orbital bombardment type attack that has its target designated before hand but possibly have a little more flexibility using a number of small templates that chain from the first.

Kind of like how the Thudd Gun used to work in early 40k?  Cool! :)

I appreciate where you're coming from questioning whether Aircraft can dominate the E:A battlefield - but I'd argue this would be ofset by the limitation on aircraft, and in this case the points costs would prohibit the use of much in the way of other Aircraft in a standard 3,000 point tourney game.

For much larger games, though...    :;):  :D
