Just remember that good ol primarch said it would come to this since day one....

Yes, and remember many of the old timers did not argue with you. Some of us just hoped you were wrong. But we did not say you were wrong.

I think our hope was right. We needed to give it a chance. That is why I put a lot of effort into the play test and I even took on the role of an Army Champ to begin with. By putting the time and effort out I think allows me to at loeast say "I tried to help" and now I do not feel bad for calling it as I see it.

Hi!

Your a better man than me, thats for sure.

When Epic A came up and after studying the marketing approach it was obvious to me that it was a lame duck from the get go.

I do wish I could have been as optimistic and enthusiastic as you guys.

But Im to pessimistic at heart....  :(

Hi!

IMO it should have started some time ago....

IIRC, it didn't require GW dropping Epic for NetEpic to start. All it took was the release of E40k. The people on space-marine basically said "ewww, there's no flavour left in this" ?:;):

Hi!

True, GW need have dumped it for a net version to arise....

..but some need some extra encouragement....  :;):

Only problem is that GW is only one (well FW too) that can produce the proper looking minis.

Really? ????

Funny, I thought the DRM miniatures looked just proper enough for me. So did the GZG miniatures and troops, so did quite a few other lines I can think of. ????

Look, if we want to have what we want and move forward dispite GW failing to support the game, then we must shift past the fanboy way of thinking. GW is NOT the only maker of 6mm that looks good. If my older Epic minis can be stand ins (Use As Rule rather then real specs for many figures) then so can other 6mm figures.

GW can go to Gehenna for all I care.

I would not say better. Just I was more willing to hope despite my doubts. I then let my hope allow me to act and try. Does not mean I did not have the doubts nor that I could not see the signs as they played out either.

Guess it is just a case of hope causing action. But I do not think that makes me ?better?, just different.

And I do thank the possibility to order stuff for me (dafrca and dwarf supreme), thank you. But there is more than enough to do with my current armies :). Ultras and fledgling titan legion. As well as need to add some touches to my older (and uglier) painted tyranids. Never mind doing something to my squats.

You're welcome.

Since when is "more than enough to do" any reason not to buy more?  :D  It hasn't stopped me (and loads of other people) from buying more.  :p

Well, many of us had said this in the past, we'll keep Epic (whatever version you play) alive here. ?This is the center of the Epic Universe ! ?With DRM releasing great 6mm stuff ( they have an APC that would make a great Rhino !) and continuing to do so in the future, plus GZG and EBay, Bartertown, etc. minis should not be a problem ! ?The GHQ M113 would make a fine Rhino (but I could be biased as I commanded a Mech Co. of M113 !), IMO ... No we don't need G/W for anything any more ...

Ah, I'd like to use what I buy :D. And I have little enough time to play anymore. And I'm going to lose soon this little room that I have for my minis (and my other stuff), so I don't know where I can paint and keep a lot of them unpacked, Woes of real life to the gaming life :p.

I completely understand.

With G/W's Epic Support rapidly fading ... And DRM rising, GZG increasing it's line, and all the other 6mm Sci-fi out there (or to come) ... Tac Com will morph into ground zero for 6mm SCi-fi, IMO !  :;):

I personally can't quite see what the big deal is here. So the Epic rules-review is going to be done by the ERC. The armies are developed by fans. The armies are still being developed - Tau, Necrons and Tyranids are coming along nicely.

All SG has to do is keep putting up the articles we write. Some will be better than others, but mostly they're very good. And put up the Experiemental lists, and, when appropriate, an Official list every so often, perhaps even with a few new models.

So that's Net Epic: Armageddon by any other name? But as it is we have a game, supported by GW, with a rulebook that people can buy and a website new players can log on to and download anything else they need. If that goes, however enthusiastic the NetEpic team may be, it becomes exclusively a game for internet-savvy, die-hard veteran gamers and immediately becomes obscure and non-playable unless you have a serious gaming group.

I don't think there's cause for alarm. Just keep playtesting, working through what we have. Let the ERC come up with their changes, I'm sure it won't suffer from not having an official SG readthrough.

Lord =I=

Hi!

The problem is actual GW support. You can create, test and develop rules, but if GW does publish them (in which ever format) its pretty much moot.

A real net driven effort produces published goods regardless of GW. GW dependant endevours are still at their mercy to "support" when and how they see fit.

Well I would take it slightly further. The support is not just about the publishing of the rules. It is things like not allowing Epic to be played as official tournaments at games days, or failure to publish more then the token image in the house magazine, or telling fans that you will not be selling the minis for a game any more even in your own stores. Many signs that combined mean a failure to support in my mind.

Allowing fans to talk rules to death does not support make.
