Now that summer is offically over, let's see how I well I met my goals for this summer:

1) Finish reading Guns, Germs and Steele. I'm about halfway through it, so I should be done soon

Well, this was easy goal. Not only did I finish this book, but I ended up reading 5 more! I was really in the mood to do a lot of reading this summer.

2) Finish spreading 5 yards of topsoil and reseed front lawn

Done! There is still more reseeding ot be done, but my front yard is looking a whole lot better.

3) Drink beer with neighbors

Mission accomplished!

4) Daytrip to Battleship Cove

Unfortunately the day I was supposed to go, I got sick as a dog. However, I did manage to go to New York City with my brother and nephew to see the USS Intrepid, which I've never seen before. I still might make there before it gets too cold.

5) Do some painting on the outside of my house (If my wife makes up her mind, I'll be doing some painting inside as well)

Mission accomplished! All the exterior wood, not counting shutters, was painted. Fortunately for me, my wife didn't mention any interior painting.

6) See Fantastic 4

Yup, did it. I liked it. It wasn't great, but I thought it was okay. Maybe the sequel will be better.

7) Drink more beer neighbors

You betcha!

Epic-wise
- play at least 1 game, 2 would be nice
- finishing painting minis that I've started (6 bombards, 1    Leviathan, my CI and a bunch of Ultramarine stands)
- Start painting a new army, probably either Ork or Chaos

-I had a day of gaming planned with my nephew, but sadly it fell through. However, we'll probably be arranging another day soon
- As for painting, I didn't reach my goal, partially because the house painting took a lot longer than I expected and also because I did a ton of reading instead.

9) Play D&D

Didn't meert this goal either.    But this was out of my control. Two members of my 5-player D&D group are a married couple who had their first baby in June. So, the group took a break. However, the happy couple is ready to resume playing. So, we should be starting up again soon.

Overall, I think I had a productive summer. I didn't get as many minis paitned as I had hoped. The prep work for the house painting took considerably longer than anticipated, which took away time from painting minis. Oh well. Autumn is here and with the sun setting earlier and earlier, I can't do any outside work after getting home from work. So, that gives me more time for painting minis!

2) Snap a million photos for the Epic Lounge 2.0 and finish that.

Well still WIP but making good progress by any means...

3) Work on the NetEpic Gold layout

Aye, Core rulebook is almost finished

4) Paint a few minis when the weather and/or time allows it.

Done

5) Work on a web page project for a major customer.

Done

6) Party with my friends

Done, but not as much as I'd have liked to

7) Try to squeeze in a small drinking/camping trip with friends

Sadly none of us had time

Attend a wedding in Scotland with some of the GF's family

9) Party some more with the friends...  

Well...

All in all I'm surprised just how much of this I've managed to get done.

1 - define parameters for a specific laser deposition process in PhD   ('fraid I had to put it first) NO - delayed by workload - this is very bad.
2 - WHFB tree campaign, Bretonnians vs Chaos (that's me) - that's more like it  - lost all games bar one, in which I outnumbered the for 1.5:1 - shame!
3 - prepare stuff for the Epic comp! (and convince CS to make a new category - Vindicator AA....   ) a - ok; b - not!
4 - complete a 40K Inquisition army (we've heard this one before) uh-uh - not!
5 - complete a WHFB army (not even defined...) no..
6 - complete phase 2 of project N (no, not games-related; ask Warmaster Nice about this) no!
7 - invade Sheffield in September  - AND Liverpool, Birmingham and York - yay!
8 - start Victorian 28mm stuff errm - one model undercoated.
9 - acquire Monster Island rules in post
10 - if they get here - start painting Aeronefs and forget 1-9 er - 1 model painted...

gah - this is one summer to forget..

My goal for this summer was to pass the anatomic pathology boards.

Glad I got that out of the way.

Summer?  What summer?  I live west of Seattle.  We call it 'liquid sunshine' around here.

My goal was to go to many SCA events (only made 4.  GRRRR.),
Play some D&D (check, but not as much as I wanted to)
Get in some 40k games.  (Check.  Even tried out a different Tau army)
Finish that :censored: Consolidated Directives Manual and Training Manual for work. (TraMan:  Check.  CDM, out of my hands now, thank god)
Recover from back surgery (you know you're hurt when it hurts to sit and paint!)

I still feel like I missed all the important things this summer.

Primarch:  Those kinds of tests shouldn't be legal under the Geneva Conventions.

What I WANT to do:
1) Finish the missing 500 points of my 10k Squat army
2) Paint a couple of companies of Death Knights
3) Paint a Khador battlegroup for Warmachine
4) Visit Parola armor museum with the kids
5) Visit artillery museum with a couple of friends
6) Visit prison museum with said fiends
7) Play Combat Mission II with a friend (and most likely lose every game...).
Read Net Epic 5.0 thoroughly to spot any possible errors
9) Write comprehensive fluff for Death Knights
10) Flock the bases of my IG army and paint a few platoons of troops to make up for those lost into the warp during transit to current war front.
11) Read "Talvisodan Historia" (The history of the Winter War).
12) Finish a 1/35 Jagdtiger which has been "on hold" since Feb 1992...  
13) Go on a world tour and have at least one game of Epic with Vanvlak, Primarch, dafrca, netepic, Tas, Legion 4 and Maksim.
14) On the same trip visit the following armor museums: Kubinka, Saumur, Munster, Bovington and Aberdeen.

Ok, back to THE reality. Here's what I in all likelihood WILL do:
