A vote for Man O'War.

Keep in mind - it's what you think it'll be, not what you want it to be. :P

What's the draw for Warhammer Quest? Is it a simplified version of WFRP?

I've seen some outstanding player created scenery for the game, but never so much as picked up a box to look at it.

Basically yes. The actual dungeon crawl is randomly generated (from cards if you are playing straight out of the box) and is role playing lite, combat uses the warhammer mechanic (suitably expanded and altered to fit) for example. It works fairly well and is clearly designed with alcohol in mind :)

You could make the game much more in depth if you so desired and the source books that came in the box allowed you to play it like a more traditional RPG and greatly expanded the bestiary and loot tables.

Its well worth playing, but it goes for astronomical sums on ebay (£100 for a used box is not uncommon and the character expansions go for £20+).

It will probably turn out to be something pointless (I wouldn't be in the least surprised if it was fantasy apocalypse which is supposed to be coming out soon).

Except for Man O'War I don't really care what it's going to be. ;D

I myself am predicting it will be WHQ but there were some thoughts at the Chicago Bunker yesterday, both from staff guessing and a couple people that it probably will be a new Blood Bowl box mainly because LRB 6 has been done for a while IIRC and the rulebook that's in the current box is the 4th edition rulebook so it's 2 editions out of date.

Thing is, anything that is released as a limited edition has to be self-contained. It can't require any support from GW after the initial release because it doesn't make sense for GW to support a game for which the essential components are unavailable.

So if they did do something like Blood Bowl, they'd have to severely reduce the number of teams available from the current selection of over 20 to maybe four, tops. And either way, once the limited run had sold out, the game would be unavailable, which could only be a bad thing.

Unless, of course, they released a limited 'special edition' but kept the regular edition available. But then having a cheaper regular version of a game available might discourage sales of a more-expensive deluxe edition.

Much as I'd love it to be Warhammer Quest, I do believe that GW lost all the files for it quite a while back. :(

Well, they re-wrote Space Hulk from scratch when they re-released that last year...

Really? I thought they just rejigged some of the rules from the previous ed?

I have heard it said before that they lost the files, how true that is I don't know. To be honest though, with the professional publishing software and hardware we've got these days, how hard would it be for them to scan a copy of the rules from a rulebook straight into a document and work it from there. I've done similar things myself with my run-of-the-mill home software. They would almost certainly pimp the rulebook up with new art and layout anyway, as they did with Space Hulk......so I don't think them having lost files years ago (if they really did) would pose too much of a problem.
