Hi!
My only minor concern is that these boards will become similar to the way that Portent has grown recently. It has become the place where people congragate to complain and bitch about GW generally. This is counter-productive.
|
Point taken, this was a concern on the netepic list a long time ago, since by nature we attraact a lot of "disenchanted" epic players. Fortunately, contrary to some belief, the GW rhetoric is very, very low. I can't remember how long its been since the last anti-GW post. Case in point, is that Jervis is actual on our list and has even posted on it, so that tells me we are pretty tame in that regard.
I think our "bitch" level is low on these forums, and its getting lower s time goes by mainly because its boring to complain non-cessantly. So I would worry about the forum in that regard.
As for the article, it does bring up some good points, but perhaps glazes over some real deficiencies GW has. Of course "truth" usually lies in the middle so people certainly do bitch too much as well as GW does couple of things not too smart.

Hehe, good article... GW bashing does get extremely boring very quickly; as CyberShadow says, Portent has seen many, many of these sort of posts recently, which is one reason I stopped visiting; not that some were not correct in some repects, it just got tedious, the same old complaints coming up again and again.....

Hi boys! Haha, it looks like my actions are kicking up dust again, for better or worse! Yehaw! Anyway, you are all a great bunch of guys, but whatever opinion you've got about how I handle the geek I don't care. Neal, I was about 5 seconds away from posting my offensive post in each thread multiple times just to screw with the #######. The ONLY reason removed any of them afterwards was for Jervis and the other guys in there who still have faith that the forum exists. As far as pixel, the guy is a tool and he asks for it. How many people do you see me instulting? One. I back up everyone who is cool to me, so yeah I do draw lines and when I get pissed I get pissed. Do I need anger management? Yeah, probably. I was much worse a few years ago before my girlfriend calmed down that demon. Bless her heart.
I don't have much to say on the rules anymore, since I know I can't affect them. At that point I thought maybe we could influence the rulebook, hell, I have even sent Jervis an email on what I thought would make the magazine better. Who knows what will happen. One thing is for sure though, the playtesting experience did leave a little bitter taste in my mouth and I feel like I have enough game stuff to last me a lifetime. I still think Jervis is a really nice guy, but still. . .
That being said, I am all about the previous editions of Epic.
BTW, I FINALLY put together a message board on my site! Not to plug it or anything, nor take you guys away from here, but I have worked hard on my site over the years and it covers more than just games. I would be honored if some of you at least checked it out once. I am still having problems and maybe Cyber knows a thing or two since it's an ikonboard too, so bear with me while I work out the kinks.
Of course, things ought to get very intersting there everynow and then since I doubt I'll be editing myself much! If you know what I mean. LOL
Grrrr
See ya!

Hi!
Personally, what I find most interesting in this kind of thread is that many of the sentiments described or the anger felt, were the same I felt more than 6 years ago when epic40k came out. So I recognize all the "beef" Gandalf and others may have now. But, dont wear yourselves out. My cardinal rules is to NOT worry or get angry with anything I cannot control. For me, GW, has long since lost any relevance regarding how I enjoy epic. It's my hobby and thus it isn't all that fun or constructive to hold grudges against the company that made my fun game. If they do things the way I like them, fine, if not, I dont care.
Everyone craves support from the game company that makes your favorite game. We also would like that support to be in the form we desire. Sometimes it goes your way, sometimes it doesn't. Just go with what suits you, even Jervis tells us that.

Gandalf,
I constantly clean out my mailbox and now always uncheck the "include copy to self" button when responding to PMs. At one point, I hit the twenty PM message maximum without realizing it!
Congratulations and Mazel Tov on your new forum. I made a post on your new board to welcome you into the community.
Shalom, Maksim-Smelchak.

Wow, I was just about to call the epic_moderator (aka Pixelgeek) an Admin_Nazi and I decided against starting up another fight.
What the hell has gotten into me?
I was just curious about what you guys were talking about with the Fifth_horseman"s army lists? ?
I know he used to post a lot, but who came down on him and why? ?
I mean, threads don't come knocking down your door, you choose to read them. When I don't find something that interests me I skim over it and move on...
Sheesh.

Sheesh. | This may be a dumb thing to ask, but what are you talking about?
Can you give a URL maybe?

Yes, I dont know what this is about, either.
Still, I do sympathise with pg on occassions. I am sure that even t5h would agree that he 'carpet bomber' the Epic A forums every now and again, and posts fan stuff outside the appropriate boards. I have a healthy respect for forum mods!
