How can Schrodinger's cat be alive and dead at the same time?

it cant, but this no doubt requires it's own thread , probably on a different board. :D

I'd quite like to bring several of my friends to EpicUK tournaments, but they're uninterested by the tournament environment.

Just tie them up and bundle them into the boot of your car. Should solve the problem.   :p

So Schrodinger's cat was named Fluffy?  :oo:

I guess I'd better stick to weird conversions....

Anyone got any chloroform?

Also, a chainsaw?***

***My boot is quite small, so they'd need cutting up a bit in order to fit more than one

The cat's opinion is irrelevant to the experiment, as it is inside the quantum box ; it's only to the mad scientist that the cat is both alive and dead at the same time...

...just like WAAC, it's a matter of perspective.  :))

Actually it's a flawed thought experiment anyway. The atom is theoretically both decayed and not decayed until observed, but in order to release the poison gas to kill the cat the nuclear decay must be detected by a geiger-muller tube or similar, and this counts as observation.

The decay is observed/detected by the geiger-muller tube, thus the cat is not both dead and alive, as the waveform will immediately collapse before the cat is even killed.

But what if it's a magical cat?

And here I thought this thread was about Women's Auxiliary Army Corps.
