I agree with Dune. The first book was great and the rest went steadily downhill. Sometimes I wonder why Frank Herbert even bothered to write so many sequels.
I'm currently reading Killing Pablo. It's about Pablo Escobar, the Colombian cocaine king who was killed in the early '90s. It's a good read for those who like to read about Special Forces operations.

Read "Foundation" Trilogy in High School, and all the Conans in college and in the Army. ?The later novels, not written by Howard, were not that good, IMO !

Just finished 'Land Leviathan", sequel to "The Warlord of the Air", both by Michael Moorcock in the Oswald Bastable Trilogy. Good, light reading with plenty of VSF stuff.
Sadly, I dont have the final book "Steel Tsar" and there arent many book shops around here likely to stock it! I'll have to wait a bit to finish of the series

Ah, have yet to get myself a copy V..
Will do so asap as I'm in need of some light relief after finishing Greg Bear's The Forge of God which was an incredibly intense emotional read- not quite as good as the undeniably superb Eon, Blood Music and Darwin's Radio (read these everyone!), but a wonderful book all the same...

Hi L-4,
Just got a copy from online of "Slammers Down" ... a role play paperback written by Todd Johnson (a former Sct SGT, with the U.S. 1st IDF in W.Ger.). And Drake adds his comments at the end. Maps and drawings too ! Looks like a good read. |
*** Is this still availiable? ***
Shalom, Maksim-Smelchak.

Quote (Legion 4 @ 05 Nov. 2005 (16:08)) | Picked up a copy of A.C. Clarke's classic "Rendevous with Rama", while awaiting routine "tests" at the VA Clinic. | Ah, one of my all time favourite SF books, a true classic indeed, wonderful book. Hope you enjoy it L4...

Thanks Tas ... not much to enjoy otherwise ! Yes, Storm, I've always liked Clarke's work. "...Rama", is very realistic ... and he's a master of reality-centric Sci-Fi !
