The only reward for working as Bde MO is that I had an attractive, buxom blonde, "Female" driver ... Her name was SP4 Wood, and from what I understand she not only "would" but did ... often !  I was not used to this after being 3 Inf Bns !  I was careful not to succumb to her offers to assist me off duty !!! :-O  Sorry to go OT !  Anyway, with that many gamers it must been a Gamemasters nightmare !

As many of you know, I attended an epic tourney last weekend. Although it wasn't as well attended as we had hoped, it did give us (Moscovian, Suvarov and me) an opportunity to play a 51,000 point game that I'll not soon forget. ?:D What an experience! On Sunday I played a standard tournament game with Suvarov, my AMTL versus his IG. Although I lost, it was an enjoyable game that could have gone either way. Although I'm still on the steep part of the learning curve, I feel more comfortable with actual game mechanics and can now concentrate more on honing my tactical and strategic ?skills.

Now that that's over, I can prepare for a game of SM2 tomorrow with my nephew. It'll be a 5,000 point game and I haven't decided yet what I'm going to take. I'm leaning towards an all Squat army, but I'm also thinking about taking Ultramarines with Titan allies.

After tomorrow, I can finally get back to painting and working on my alternate critical hit tables. I'm almost finished with completing all my WIPs (3 Razorbacks and 3 Titan weapons) and can move on to new things, which should include terrain and Squats.

If it's not to late I'd give the little stunties a run out once more!

I did indeed play Squats. I was expecting to play against a bunch of girlie pointy ears, but much to my surprise, my nephew broke out his Tyranids.  :O  With the high break point for the Squats and the bugs needing to wipe out formations, this was without a doubt the bloodiest 5000 point game I've ever played. Due to some wretched dice rolling, especially in critical close combats, and a couple of poor decisions on my part, the Brotherhood was defeated. Also, it didn't help that I was facing 5 bio-titans.  :(

5 Bio Titan's in 5000 points that one heavy weight army...

Oh would have been a good one to watch I expect, although with high break points it not to long before the Tyranids complete kill you off..

Another one for the book of grudges I feel...  :D

At the end of the game, which went four turns, I had left on the table: 1 Colossus (started with 2), 1 Leviathan (from an Ironbreaker squadron), 1 Goliath (out of 3), about 4 bike stands (from a company), 2 Land Train cars (lost the engine and 5 cars) and about a half dozen Warrior stands. That's it.

The big mistake I made was not concentrating enough firepower on his Dominatrixes.

The fanfare some of you might have heard last night signalled my finishing all my WIPs, finally.  :D  As of last night, all I had left were three Razorbacks, one titan weapon and one titan head. I had vowed not to work on anything new until I finished all WIPs, some of which have been lingering for a decade. Except for priming all my metal Squat minis (and a ton of Ultramarine stands) and doing a little painting for the Albany tournament, I was strong and stuck to my vow. It was rough, let me tell you.

Now I can finally move on to new projects. Here are the things at the top of my list, in no particular order:

Squats - all metal primed, plastic awaiting priming

Terrain - woods and ruins

Objectives - I have a total of six, three of which I started for Albany

Basing - I recently acquired some SM2 IG and SM sprues and need to base up some things

Ultramarines - I have about 75 stands primed. I'll probably work on these a detachment or two at a time so that it doesn't get too monotonous

Knights - I primed a bunch (~30) for Albany, so I might as well finish them

Altertnate titan damage tables - I'd like to get these finished for an Incoming! article

Fill in gaps for tournament army lists - for example, I have only three Hydras painted, but I have six more unpainted. I would like to paint at least three more before I play E:A again

Needless to say, this should keep me quite busy for a while.  :D

One of things I hadn't bought yet was a copy of Swordwind. I was hoping to save a few bucks by having my nephew by it with his GW employee discount. Well, it turned out that despite his best efforts, he was never able to get two copies (one for me, one for him). So, off to ebay I went, but unfortunately Swordwind tends to go for at least $40 US whenever a copy appears on ebay.

An auction for for Swordwind ended yesterday, which I bid on, fully expecting to get outbid as usual. Well, much to my surprise, I won it for $29.  :)  With the cost of shipping factored in (about $2 since the seller is in the US) I ended paying less than I would have if I had bought it retail.

I've been a bad boy. I haven't done much painting lately. However, I do have a pretty good excuse. My wife and her business partnet bought a restaurant. So, I've been spending some time there drinking free beer and eating free food.   Once the novelty wears off, I'll return to my projects. Also, since my wife will be there most evenings and my two stepdaughters are waitresses there, I might actually have more time on my hands.   :)

The Beast just needs to be sprayed with clear Flat ... and pics taken ... It will be in the Titan Comp. !  :;):  No sweat there, SGT !  And I made some suitable refinements to "IT" ... C/CBT Claw is mounted on the back loading ammo !  And I made a suitably imposing BIG Gun Combi using 40K Ork Bike cannons and the M/G Big Lobba bit !  "IT" is a mean Mutha !  :D
