Pre-measure all the way for me as well.
If I play against someone who doesn't like it then I just bring out my Speed Freaks. Then it doesn't matter about ranges as I'm fast enough to do it.
The only thing that annoys me is when a person works out a move and then grabs that extra few centimetres by forgetting a ZoC.

I've worked in the Construction industry for over forty years, anyone want to come over and have a go with me in a Pratt Naval Battle? |
I'd say this is the big problem with not premeasuring. When I played SM/TL all the time I could guess distances in the 30-75cm range to within 5cm easily and consistently. That gives a distinct advantage in play agaisnt someone who cannot do the same. However, the goal is to compete on generalship, not on who can best judge distance in cm.

Hmm the poll is closer than I thought it would be... it would be interesting to have have a poll just for those currently playing Epic Armageddon.
Primarch - what are the rules on premeasuring in the latest Netepic? (Apart from L4's old maksim of 'Do whatever works for you!')

Well, we don?t premeasure at all. The only measurement is done at the moment you want to shoot at your prior announced Target if the Weapon is in Range.
Cheers! Steele

Cheers! Steele | That's what my group does: no measuring until you have announced your targets. However, I can usually tell when something is in range.

Simply put. There are no hard and fast rules. It was left to the players taste on purpose, since no consensus could be achieved.
Granted there are weapons with random ranges (pulsa rokkits), where premeasuring would give a distinct disadvantage and should be discouraged.

If premeasuring is allowed everyone should use it. Carpenters and old 40K IG hands forced to guess Basilisk guess ranges in V3 have an unfair advantage in this area.

Carpenters and architectural technologists We used to play the game of 'guess the difference' at college, everybody got really good at it by the time they had spent 3 years drawing.
