Hehe... I'll see your .22 and raise you to a .50 cal ammo case.

I'll see your .50cal boxes (I use them for tool boxes as they are nicely water proof) and raise you a 127mm HE packing crate! ?Its full of all my terrain, hills, trees etc.
:p

Ok, arms race on. I'll know steel one of the boxes used for storing laser spares and raise the ante (or whatever) to a lascannon....  :p  :alien:

ANd most of my completed models are stored in a pair of  wooden boxes - a 3-bottle wine gift presentation box (highly recommended, especially if you get to dispose of the wine first) and a box in which a replacement pump had been delivered to a factory where I used to work.
The troops live in smaller cardboard boxes (including many of GW origin) within.

I'd second the call for Figures in Comfort bases.

People may claim I'm biased as I sell them along with my painting services, but truth be told I sell very few at all - I stock them more to get my hands on all the foam I need myself :blues:  :p

the product is superb, Plus Jules is a really nice guy to trade with :D

Aye

I have bought FiC cases mainly at shows so I have had a chance to chat to Jules. The guy is so helpful. I explained what figures I wanted to put in trays, whether tall Slaughterloo ogres, cavalry on 40m round bases, epic infantry on long bases, epic bikes on warmaster bases, epic SHT's on thick card bases, Titans etc....

For each on he was able to suggest the perfect tray. And most importantly Jules is a gamer too- I had nice long chat with him about his Slaughterloo armies- I was impressed to find someone with more Slaugterloo armies than me!! He even designed some trays specifically to carry his own Slaughterloo figures- you can't get more gamer-friendly than that!!

At our gaming club I know of at least 9 people who have all bought FiC cases and are happy with them!! That is best recomendation that I can give.

Cheers

James

Hi Guys,

I mostly use Plano fishing tackle boxes. They fit three to four of the trays I've been using for years and they have a spot "upstairs" where I can store terrian, Titans and larger items.

Because of the interchangeable trays, I can easily swap an army out or in the box in minimal time.

I also started using old VCR boxes, which are very cool for 6mm minis.

For home storage, I mostly use transparent plastic shoe boxes from the Dollar Store with an index card at either end to indentify the contents.

I also have a few cardboard boxes, but I've almsot entirely switched over to transparent plastic shoe boxes at this point.

I've started to buy trasnparent plastic under-the-bed sweater boxes for my large terrain collection.

When I finally get out of my current tiny apartment, I hope to buy a few curio display cases for my minis. IKEA seems to be the best bet.

I'll probably by one of those long thin RR display cases to mount on my wall as well. They can be had for a decent price and the width that an HO or O scale RR cases has is plenty for all types of miniatures.

Shalom,
Maksim-Smelchak.

Actually, I use an Army Transport, Battalion model. That's the wheel-around one.

Actually, my SM and Ork armies (about 5k points each) take up a total of 4 1" trays. I make a 1x3 hole in the pre-cut foam and I can stack a maximum of 4 infantry stands into one such slot. Nobz and other big stuff go two to a slot.

Vehicles go into a 1x2 slot, and when you have 39 Battlewagonz, that takes up about half a tray.

The rest of the space in my AT goes to my 40K Ultramarine army, but it's nice to be able to play either 40k or Epic on a moment's notice.

If you don't have the level of forces that I do, a standard AT case should be sufficient, with some blank tray spacers to make sure everything stays packed.

I use army issue ammo boxes for the C-9 amo. Fits about 3,000pts regularly.

I just took the red foam, cut a tray and a half into strips 2 slots deep by 4 long, fit almost perfectly.
