Got the demo to work, great intro, but it seems its so called "real time" so I doubt I'll buy it...

It is really good tho for an RTS, the Avatar is as it should be, big and nigh on unkillable!

Yup, the fluff is strongly reflected in the game play - Orks build up Waaargh energy, basically the more orks you have the better the quality of the Orks you can buy.
You also need to erect Waaaagh towers (think towers with big banners, a loud speaker and big shouter) to get your ladz in the mood. When you have x number of orks and x number of Waaagh you can start making Nobz, Dreads, etc...
The squiggoth just refuses to die, it is immense!

Playing the retail release of DoW now. Pretty standard RTS fair, the animations are nice tho. They did a better than usual job on the pathfinding, and I was trying to muck about with the units in my first game, sending them to roundabout places that would stymie older RTS games.  I'm not real big on RTS, I prefer turn based, but about the only gripe I have is that there is no way to remap the controls.  Why o why leave such a simple little thing out? I mean, some of use do use different patterns than the developers. Oh well, it's not that big a deal, I guess, if you are a RTS junkie. Intro movie was nice, too.

Intro movie is amazing , it is the little things in game, I just love the dreadnaughts and the way that EVERY unit can be customised.

I think that Rome:TW will be a better game, as far as gameplay goes. Waiting on my copy of that to show up now.

Ahhhh Rome.... went to pick it up today it's release date has slipped until the first.
Am more excited about this game than about meeting the new GF - Sign of mental illness perhaps?!?
