Problem is, can they then be recast by non-GW?

Can what be recast, OOP GW minis? No, GW holds the IP rights to them.

This would be a great solution for both GW and gamers.  License the IP for Epic to another company that's willing to handle the production, in return for a percentage of the gross sales.  Mongoose or Privateer could handle it.

Well this conversation raises it's ugly head again ... I wish it could be changed ... But G/W is no longer supporting Epic ... Because ... Now don't be shocked ...  it does not make $$$ for them.  :oh:

My apologies if this discussion has been beaten into the ground elsewhere.

The fact that the game was and ,compared to 40K & WFB, still is inexpensive always made me wonder how profitable Epic was for GW from the get go.

Has there been discussion about Forge World doing more with the Epic line?  They seem like a natural fit for the game and have the crossover models for AI along with a smattering of other Epic stuff.  As I understand it, they are currently tasked out with 40K stuff, but maybe down the road they could revisit their Epic lines.

See here for what Forge World does when presented with a free master pattern of a 6mm Necron pylon.

Don't get me wrong ... anyone should feel free to "chat" about this topic or any others. I've been collecting Epic since '90 when I got out of the Army, and I've seen it wax and wane. But it's clear that for a long time now it's not economically viable. And I dare say the same goes for Forge World. Note the limited support for their game AI ... In today's economic enviroment, it would be risky even for another company to get licensed by G/W to mold Epic. Not to mention the lack of molds or originals to cast.  So again, IMO, you want 'Nids ... DRM makes a large line (and getting bigger) of Bugz, as does GZG, Brigade, etc. You want Squats ... Exodus Wars makes a great line of "Space Dwarfs" ... Plus DRM, E/W, GZG, and more make a huge amount of Human forces.  Not to mention DRM makes a full line of Andriods and Sci-fi Lizardmen ... 2 Armies G/W did not have ...  'Nuff said ! :D

WOW!  My dreams of an Epic Space Slann army can be realized!  I just need to figure out how I'm going to scratchbuild some Llama Titans with Death Ray™ eyes... 8v)

Otterman, that is a true tale of woe and a pretty scary illustration of FW/GW's position on the game. :sigh:

The DRM Space Lizzys and Androids are fully "kitted out" ... not just Infantry, but MBTs, APCs, Combat Walkers, Aircraft, etc., etc. ... lota good stuff !!  :alien:
