Hi Luis, Peter, Justinel and Gang,

Thanks for all of the compliments.

L-4 inspired me. I'm hoping that my gallery will inspire some of you to put up your own galleries as well.

Shalom,
Maksim-Smelchak.

Hi Guys,
I started my own Photobucket gallery:
http://photobucket.com/albums/f23/Maksim-Smelchak/

Hi Maksim,
I have to agree with Jimbo; I'm not quite sure why you needed six identical posts for this one...

First of all, I really appreciate your post. Thanks for writing.

My gallery has photos of several different genres of miniatures.

I therefore posted in forums where there are folks that enjoy those different miniatures genres.

Therefore, all of those places I posted are the "correct' places for that announcement about miniature photos that would be of interest to those areas.

Epic in Epic, moderns in wargames, WWII in wargames, miniatures in miniatures, announcements in news, etc., etc.

I really don't see what the deal is either.

I don't complain when New Posts shows up with 8 to 12 Epic Contests at the top of the list and it shows up as having activity every time someone votes on it. No problem for me.

I'm tolerant of that.

SPAM to me is porn, unwanted advertisements, rude annoucements usually of a sexual nature, political overtures and all of those things share one thing in common:

They are off-topic.

My posts announced the opening of a miniatures gallery ona forum dedicated to gaming and miniatures. That's very much on-topic.

A single posting might have sufficed for some... but not for many other gallery members who don't have a lot of expertise in navigating the forum or don't use forums the same way as you or I might.

And I know this for a fact because I was just chatting with someone the other day ago about this and they asked me why I didn't post a certain annoucnement in their favorite forum. I explained that they could see all the new announcements by using the New Posts feature, but that person explained that they didn't like using that feature and only checked the forums they liked best. And it was for people like that that I harmlessly posted my announcement on a few different boards where the annuncement was on-topic.

In that light, my posts were not "unnecessary duplicate postings" anymore than anything anyoneelse posts is. The posts served a function that's necessary for some folks... although not all.

That's why I feel that my posting my miniatures gallery announcement more than once is harmless and short of adding another item to the New Posts queue shouldn't be a bother to anyone. It takes work to be bothered. I'd rather spend my energy otherwise and ignore harmless things.

Shalom,
Maksim-Smelchak.

Good eyes! :D

That big missile is indeed an "Honest John," one of the Korean-era battlefield nukes that has thankfully been retired! It probably would have been as dangerous to its own side as that of the enemy.

Shalom,
Maksim-Smelchak.

Humour: THE HORMONE WARNING!

Hi Guys,

I've added a joke E-mail for all of you guys who are married, have girlfriends or think you might someday have one or the other (...and hopefully not both at the same time!).

Here's a link to where it's posted:

That entirely depends on the tolerance of the wife and girlfriend for each other.

The jokes are great, though.

FILMS: LOTR Films!

Hi Guys,

I thought the first LOTR movie was great and they went downhill from there.

Not including Shelob in The Twin Towers was horrible. I waited the entire second film for Shelob.

I think the films are by far the best ones that have ever been made for The Lord Of the Rings, but they are clearly as adaptation of the film, sort of like those movies that have "based on truth" disclaimers.

Shabbat Shalom,
Maksim-Smelchak.

I really like your gallery, L-4!

Thanks for putting it up!

I do have one request though...

You're welcome.

And while I'm on it, I wanted to thank you for keeping your wonderful web site up all of these years! It's been a great inspiration to me. I hope that I can build up my free Photobucket web site up for the time being and eventually build my own custom web site as you have done.

Thank you for all of the inspiration over the years!

Shabbat Shalom,
Maksim-Smelchak.

Thanks, M/S! That is a great article! I'll have to spend some time with it! I'll forward it to my friends, Harry & 3rdI!

I was going to 3rdI's to post pics of my Skullwagons, T-Beamz & Looted Rhinos. But his wife dragged him off to go skiing!
Will post Weds! And add to my gallery. :8): ?

And Harry my other "chingo", had 13 years in the USMC as an NCO, in Gulf War 1/Desert Storm, a History Major from the Citadel, and now in the USNR. He got orders to be sent to Iceland for 7 months in March... there goes my wingman/APL/OX/2IC! :o0 ?

My cousin had a model of "Atomic Annie", (Revell IIRC)... was DE'd by a cherry bomb! He was a Tactical Air Controller in the USN.

IIRC, I said this before, but as an 2LT in the 101, I went to NBC school. And later as a 1LT, got a TS because I was selected to be a Atomic Demolitions Missions Officer! I don't like NUCs, Bugs or Gas but I guess if I had to... I'd use the "Red Pills!"
"NUC'm till they Glow!"

And yes, I will get around to labeling my pics, thanks for the suggestion! Sorry to ramble on... a quiet Sunday night!

Hi M/S

The first film just blew me away, the second was even more awesomer, the third was OK. I came out of the cinema somewhat disapointed- maybe it was the length- from Mount Doom onwards it seemed never ending.

My Mum went to see ROTK with friends as I had dragged her to see FOTR/TTT. I didn't tell her about Shelob beforehand. I got such grief from her afterwards as she hates spiders. At least she had the suspense though of not knowing what was going to happen.

My opinion on ROTK has somewhat improved after watching it on DVD. The ability to hit pause whilst you put the kettle on certainly makes it easier to sit through.

I can't see anyone ever remaking the films in our lifetime. They may not have adapted the books in quite the way that you wanted but I think it was almost impossible to fit in any extra material in the theatrical version. The fact was that the films managed to bring the world of Tolkien to many millions who would probably have never picked up such hefty books that are so difficult to read. If the films were any longer then they wouldn't have worked.

However given that I have the DVD box sets I won't ever watch the theatrical versions anymore preferring the extra detail and added scenes of the Extended editions.

Cheers,
James.

Agreed on all points, WI. I have griped about the changes that were made between the book and movie, but overall I am pleased, especially with the extended DVD versions, which added back in some elements that were missing from the theatrical version.
