P.S.
The game is from a company called GMT which does good stuff.

Paths of Glory seems VERY interesting. Now if I only had a dimensional pocket (where time crawls) to play it in...  :-:

The SHORT and SKINNY:

Hi Dafrca,

Wish I had that much time to play. ?
You are a lucky man Maksim.

I don't have unlimited time, but I do have a will and where there's a... :)

Seriously, I'm a batchelor (I know that children change EVERYTHING!) and I also have spent time getting gaming groups going. I'm at the point now where I get invitations pretty regularly.

I think that part of the trick is to go out of your way to accept an invitation so that more will come...

I also talk a lot when I stop by hobby shops looking for new players or groups.

I have:

- A San Jose Traveller group,
- A San Francisco OGRE group,
- An East Bay Gaming group,
- A Sacramento Air Pirates group,
- Chern and the E-A group,
- Jon and the F&M group and
- Vince and the Fresno/ Sacto/ Stockton/ Elk Grove group.

There are probably a few others.

It's also important to invite players from one group to another. Even from one genre to another... you never know. Cross-germanization is a good thing!

Vince explains that getting a game going is like firing shotgun shells... extend enough invitations and you'll get a threshhold of players... I think he's right.

Shalom,
Maksim-Smelchak.

Oh I understand you have worked hard to network in the hobby. It is one of the things I admire about you. You clearly understand the need to network. :;):

I guess it is all about priority and right now my family, work, and some other things have a higher priority. I just wish sometimes it could be different. :p

I'm not advanced enough to run a BLOG yet so this thread is my close second. It makes me feel like I'm getting enough gaming in! :D

Shalom,
Maksim-Smelchak.

The geographical area is a factor too. ?Living in a metropolitan area as opposed to a rural area (as I do) helps alot. ?

You would think that was true. But in my case it is not. I played more games when I was at school. The city was a smaller city and out in the middle of no where.

I am in the middle of the Los Angeles Metro Area and have only found players once in a while. Had to "build" my own by getting others interested.

Guess sometimes it is just luck of the draw.

Well, college towns would be the exception to that rule....small communities of people relatively the same age looking for something to pass the time....that's why there are so many bars and clubs there....   :p

Sorry, I went to Ohio University....big time party school....

:O :O :O

I'm hoping to work on my:

1. Jopalli IG regiment.

2. Tyranid swarms.

I have also been thinking to finish my Adeptus Mechanicus machine temple that I started for my Mars Forgeworld table to enter in the scenery competition.

Shalom,

Even talking to yourself counts as discussion.

???  :D

This is why certain sections of my Blog and Workbench have not been updated.
