Never brought any of the original space hulk box sets, buy I do remember reading missions in WD.

Maybe they were for hulk missions on crsuade boards.

The missions were for Space Hulk (although there may have been others, which I never saw, for Space Crusade). They were later compiled into a hard-bound book - Space Hulk Campaigns - with the old pic of a Magus leading a horde of hybrids and purebreeds. ISBN 501192100358
This included scenarios and new rules. One of the Scenarios was Necromunda, infiltrated by stealers for the occasion. ANother introduced Traitor Marines. And then came the Tactical Marines, who were expected to fall like flies - makes a change, eh? The good thing was that their actions cost less as they were more agile than the Termies. Add new weapon and grenade and psychic power rules....

I still am tempted to build a cult army each time I dig it out - as I did to check the details  :vD

Just to add fuel to the 'first edition rule set' debate, check this link:

Gratuitous linkage

Whilst I don't know either rule set at all, someone mentioned somewhere the 1st edition rules having things like overwatch in the rules? Seeing as there are Librarians and the sand timer in this edition as well, this could all be fairly conclusive.

-Moronguhl

Edit: Hmmm, link doesn't seem to work.  Go to the Space Hulk product page and then click on the 'Space Hulk: First Contact' article on the right.  The box contents are on the second page.

If you edit the link to remove the 2 instances of amp; leaving the & in it works......

Damn you now I'm really quite tempted to pre-order.  :sigh:

With a name like Mephiston I would of thought it was a no-brainer anyway!

They have more pics up at GW.  Looks like there is a T-hammer in the box too!  The Terminator on the throne looks awesome.  I'm ready to play!

Okay here are some facts:  It is 1st edition or at least as close as you can get to it.  There are some minor changes but it is not 2nd edition anyway.  The game pieces are very nice and are indeed full sized 28mm Heroic scale.  The board pieces are nicely laminated and are thicker than before, even the doors are beefy.

Ah, hell, here are some pics:

One change is Guard Action; kind of like overwatch for assault:

those are some good photos that give more insight to the quality of the goods, and its gerat to hear it plays more like 1st ED, the little gun drone / servitor  guy looks nice.  seems they have actually made a decent go of it which is a nice change.
I look forward to getting my copy upon release.

Cheers

Orders for Australia (NZ?) I believe were sent on Friday (I hope I got the date right), so we should hopefully be seeing them next week with any luck   :))

If I have it wrong, then it will be the week after   ???

Thanks for the pics, CL. It does indeed look a lot like 1st edition.

Yeah, to be honest I've thought the same thing - I don't think there'll be that many goin spare though, and any that are will be highly sort after.

Unless a super-skilled aquatic mammal can intervene somehow...  :blues:

I could see myself wanting quite a few...say 10 for ad-mech tanks, in the pics the CAT looks about land raider sized?

They's be perfect for Forge Knights, which are meant to be Titan repair units drafted in to battle out of necessity, rather than being meant to be combat machines. I too can see them being rare, unless someone might help, I'd be interested in some.

I'm getting increasingly tempted to buy a copy of the game too.
