Or Vassal, but there are not many people in. Last spring there was an increase due to the virus, but that has died mostly.

I managed to play one game of Epic Armageddon on Tabletop Simulator (using Discord for voice chat during the game) during the last year. It worked okay, but setting up a the terrain was a pain.

One weird thing about Epic in TTS is that Epic mods come in 2 different scales: a) where models match the measurements of the real parts, and b) where the models and the table are scaled so that 1 inch = 1 cm. It can get annoying.

We've just been building and painting models ready for when we can play again.

Tabletop is potentially an option, I think some others were doing that.

We got lucky last September when the virus restrictions eased enough to have a small socially distanced Epic tournament but since things have got way worse again so who know when we'll get a chance again (I see in the news today a new worse covid variant has mutated in our city so it could be a while).

I've only played Epic on TTS (unless we're counting >20 years ago).

Works quite well: No need to collect and paint an army, or set up a table of terrain, plus there's a toggle option to automatically measure distance whenever you move a model. Much easier to judge line of site as well.

A user called JaspherG007 put together a Minigeddon map which is pretty good:

Epic Armageddon - Minigeddon Map 1000 Pts - https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=2606239501

I've been bashing a few things together to give myself some more variety for larger games:

6mm Epic - River Bridge Map (90x55") (140x230cm) - https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=2696291092

6mm Epic - Cliffside Road Map (240x150cm) (90x60") - https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=2698911070

6mm Epic - Industrial Town (240x240cm) (90x90") - https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=2701929006

6mm Epic - Crashed Ship (240x240cm) (90x90") - https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=2703236467

6mm Epic / 28mm - Webway Nexus (240cmx240cm) - https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=2737514276

6mm Epic - Ruined City (455mm x 455mm) - https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=2956508817

With most of these, I've tried to include some kind of high and low ground on the map (just because I think it's neat, and seems like less work to create on TTS than it would on an actual table-top).

Good that you’re enjoying playing online :)

If you’re in Southampton you ever feel like playing in person there are a couple of tournaments a year in Bristol and one in Aldershot near London, souls you feel like travelling to play.

Thanks Glyn!

I had noticed the recent Aldershot event and was tempted.

I do have a substantial amount of Space Marine and Tyranid Epic minatures, more than enough for a large army. Completely unpainted, and I'm a little on the fence about whether to paint or sell them. I've just been gifted a few 6mm orks, so I might have a go at painting them first and then make my mind up.

It's just that these things seem to go for a fair chunk of change on eBay, so it might make more sense to sell them to someone who is going to put the time and work in rather than keep them on a shelve for another ten or twenty years.

I've only recently ransacked my parent's attic to go through what I had, including some Tyranid bioships for BFG still in blister packs (from when I bought them via mail order twenty years ago). Part of me wanted to keep them, but they were selling for £60 a pack on eBay... so I figured that it made more economic sense to scratch my GW itch on TableTop Simulator.

Still holding on to the Epic stuff for now though.

Fair enough. If you did fancy trying an event in future you could potentially reach out (perhaps on the Epic UK Community facebook group) and ask if anyone going could lend you an army for the day. You could try and see how find playing Epic in person then without having to spend the time printing up an army first to do so. Playing online is an option too, whatever you prefer really, just suggesting it as an option.
