First of all I have absolutely no proof so these are just hunches. It loooks as though our friend MaceAce has disapeared. Instead this guy shows up with lots of rare minis most of which are also undercoated white and offered with a "buy now" option.
A few examples:
http://cgi.ebay.com/ws....19&rd=1
http://cgi.ebay.com/ws....31&rd=1
Also these CSM minis: http://cgi.ebay.com/ws....50&rd=1 I'm not sure but I don't think that marine or CSM backpacks have ever been metal.
We've had the discussion about the pros and cons of copyists before so I'm not going to get into all that. Only I think that potential buyers should be clear that they possibly are bidding on lower quality re-casts so they don't bid the minis up too high.
Finally I'd like to make it absolutely clear that this is ONLY A HUNCH! I have no proof and if I am mistaking I sincerely apologize to the seller.
Cheers! ?

With him, at least there is a variation.
Now check out this seller:
Tank Auction
He has sold this lot four or five times in the last 30 days.
Then go look at his closed auctions.
He has sold this 40k Eldar Harlie army five times in 30 day: Eldar Auction
And these Ogres 6 times: Ogres
I will stop there. But you can see what I mean. There is no way he is "buying" in bulk somehow.
When I called GW to ask if he was on their "watch" list, they said no because there was "no way" he could be recasting all that in metal.
As said above, buy with caution.

No way to recast? Not likely. If he keeps the originals, it's perfectly possible to do so.

Hi!
Hard to say, but if it is a copy, it looks pretty darn good.

Just curious.

Quote (primarch @ 01 2004 Oct.,18:43) | Yes Dafrca, the CSM's. They look pretty good. I cant really say they are not the real thing.
I have my own philosophy regarding copies and such. If they are good enough to make you wonder if they are real, then they are good enough for me to pay for 'em.
No questioned asked.
...and NO, I dont want a morality debate on the evils of copied minis.....
Primarch | I agree with you because I must always give the person the benefit of the doubt. But if it is obvious, then I am unwilling to buy them.
But regardless of the moral issues involved, I just do not want bad looking minis.

Having bad looking minis is in itself more morally reprehensible than copied minis....
To me QUALITY is king. I could care less who provides me with it.

Well, I've seen some recasted minis that were looking about as good as original.
If the technique is really good (like the caster is doing that for some years), you can't spot the difference once undercoated.
Yes, I knew a caster who sold minis at my college about ten years ago. He was pretty good at it, and I've seen him improve over a year to the point you couldn't see much difference with the real thing; I could spot the fakes mostly because I knew where to look when it come to his minis (he didn't made the injection in the same place as on the original, and some of the "original" flash wasn't removed very smoothly in the first place; so I could always see the same filing trace if the painter wasn't carefull enough) .
Casted miniatures tend to have a shinier appearance than the official ones; a bit like those we've seen on the previous photos in this thread, I'm afraid. The metal contain more pewter (most readily available casting metal do; this lower the fusion temp), and not very experienced caster, obviously, will produce lower quality minis.
Athmos.
