Popping back breifly... This EBay email is a scam. The address that you are redirected to looks genuine, but often has an extra '.' in it somewhere!

If in doubt, email EBay directly using the link on their home page. They are very good at getting back quickly.

I tend to back off, but will contact the member in question if its of particular interest.  This has only happened a few times (with Dafrca and Maksim) though.

If I see Darkone's name I just give up immediately! :p

Ditto to all the above, I tend to bid low also and am not too bothered to lose, even to a stranger though I'm far happier if it goes to an Epicomm person. I have not bid with a name I recognise (again, unless I REALLY want that item) and as Tas if it's Darkone, you haven't got a chance :D :D :p

ermmm maybe I should answer to this and get myself out of trouble here :;):
What I tend to do is search for something and if someone here has bid I leave it but check before the end of the auction. If that person has been outbid then I bid.

Then again if its metal infantry or something adeptus titanicus era then I tend to bid on it anyway.... so Maksim is correct there. ? Though I can PM first if that helps rather than just bidding. ?sorry guys :(

I just love epic what can I say :p

though I don't think I'll be buying too much epic stuff from ebay now I've got all the miniatures I need to finish my Iron Warriors (which'll get done once I've finished my Iron Hands, Death Watch, IG.... :p )

I'll still be selling loads of stuff though! :blues:

I maybe wrong hear but is this becoming an anti Darkone26 thread here? ?I am asking cos I no longer find this kind of comments funny anymore.

Lets see, I have tried twice to trade with Maksim after he ask if it was possible. ?Twice I have been ignored when I have asked for a list. ?Now I only get strong hints to trade and then ignored. ?Then here on Epicomms Maskim has implied I am either a selfish git who bids over everyone or someone who likes to step on people's toes to get what he wants no matter who it is..... whats going on? ?

Quote:
Doug AKA Dark One bids against other Epicomms members all of the time.

Its not my fault if we havent traded and if you have a problem with me I would you rather email about than make it public, especially considering I havent done anything wrong.

No I havent got up on the wrong side of the bed, I am really fed up of the way I am being portrayed here to others. ?As I am not like that at all. ?

Tas:
Last time we emailed and that was some time ago you mentioned I have been busy on ebay again. ?Well not being bad but I havent been buying as much on ebay at all and only happened to bid on two I found when I was bored. ?If you and Maksim are really paying attention to what I bid on you would find that I am not nearly as active as I used to be. ?I really find these what I call 'snide' comments really unfair.

I have mentioned before that if you really think you want these things and you think I may bid on it then PM me. ?Since I dont go on ebay that often you cannot tell me I have had the luck to snap up every AT/SM1 era model that has been on ebay.

This is really getting to me now.

I have many rare models and unreleased models and some I will trade if I have many otherwise I will only try and increase the amount I have.  Its taken me ages to get what I have and a lot of money, making sure that the people I deal with get a better than fair deal unless its a lost cause where I am more or less paying people to take this stuff of me.   I wont do that.

I have offered solutions and there is nothing stopping people from asking me for what they need, but to go ribbing me on and on at every given chance then thats a little out of order.

If you didnt mean it well it certainly didnt feel that way.

A very unhappy Doug

whoa whoa whoa!... ease up there Doug!

If you didnt mean it well it certainly didnt feel that way.

And arent you acting just a little out of any possible proportion here?

Im sorry you feel that way, it certainly wasnt meant to be anything of the kind, but obviously you have a larger issue.  Email me privately if you wish to discuss, (and I hope you do to clarify this rather tragic misunderstanding) but this kind of post is out of line.

A rather unhappy Tas

Maybe, maybe not,  I have no idea why this started in the first place. Since this was about my behaviour towards other members here.

I have so far tried to defend myself and felt I have only encouraged more ribbing and in turn has upset me.

What I find was unfair was how I have been portrayed when everyone else is doing the same or have implied that they bid over people when they want certain items.

I was taking these comments of allowing others to get in really lightly and tried to shrug it off as being me paranoid but these comments are still coming and I am tired of it..... I have offered solutions but cant do any more than that.  As for emailing I will straight after this but you didnt answer the other one and only PMed twice about something else so I thought nothing of it till its started up again.  This has been for me the second occasion I have been spoken to about my bidding habits and thats why its starting to become a little more than just banter.

OK Doug...I've just emailed you to clear this up because I think this is nothing but an unfortunate misreading of some faceless emails. ?

I will not allow some misinterpretation of people admiring your impressive collection to become some major issue.

If you do not like people discussing your Ebay purchases then thats fine - I wont mention it. ?But I dont know not to do this unless you tell me. ?Remember that I have helped you get some of those rare items before so its not like we are against you here.

Im sure we can clear this up right away offline

Hi Doug,

I feel you're great guy and I apolgoze if your feelings are hurt in any way.

I usually don't bid against someone unless it's a really old item. In other words, I have the EXACT SAME bidding policy as you. I not only have no problems with you but I wholly approve of your policy as it is my own.

No worries, mate. We're all cool with you.

If nothing else, we all have a bit of jealosy and admiration for your many successes.

Shabbat Shalom,
Maksim-Smelchak.

Perhaps a few comments came across as a little targetted, Doug, but I am reasonably sure that any comments are made here in admiration rather than any bitterness.

You are a collector beyond the means of most of us here (including myself, and I am a fairly aggressive collector), and one day I would very much like to visit and witness your Epic horde. I certainly dont begrudge you this, and I would rather your collection/Epic museum gathered supplies than they were lost.

Any members bidding behaviour on a third party site are beyond the remit of these boards. EBay has certain rules and regulations about bidding and buying, and any discussion here on these practices are entirely unofficial and should at no point be considered an agreement in any way. In the end, high prices for Epic may help persuade others to sell, and benefit us all. EBay works by people bidding the highest price that they think an item is worth. High prices are an indication of how much the Epic community likes the game. Personally, if I bid for an item and any EpiComms member outbids me then I have absolutely no reason or right to complain. That is how the system works and this practise is transparent and clear.

If anyone wants an item more than I do, then bid and pay more than I am prepared to. If I am outbid by EpiComms members (and it happens frequently), then I wish them well and thanks for an interesting challenge (but, dont snipe, kids!).

Please, all, bear in mind that EBay is a system designed to encourage competition. It is not personal, it is just the nature of the game.

If anything I am guilty of its gotta be sniping if I am doing it correctly, by staying up 4am in the morning to make a last minute bid before the auction ends.  I dont always do it but its often purely because its damn costly to bid throughout and spend loads.  I have made that mistake too many times.  Though for the record I do not have some program that does the sniping....

As for the note Tas and Maksim, I REALLY appreciate your words because I really felt bad this morning because it seemed a never ending story.  I spent an hour thinking about this thread and Tas's last word comment about allowing others to win stuff from the AT/SM1 era.  It made me unhappy because I do what everyone else does only on a larger scale, obviously because of impatience and a decent job.
Saying that there have been a few good people who have helped me find stuff, you Tas being one of them and thats what made it worse, so I didnt understand why I get the jibes or ribbing.  Not only that but when this subject comes up now and again my name is always thrown in so hence the singled out feeling.  I dont want to upset people and it felt like I had although I no longer do what you are or at least what I thought you were implying.
Tas, I always thought that you never said something unless it was worth saying, so I assumed you were making a point because you did it everytime ebay was mentioned with rare stuff.  Either that if it was a joke you were flogging a dead donkey because its no longer funny.
I had to leave bang in the middle of this because I had to help my brother in law in the fields packing the hay and storing it. It gave me 8-9 hours to think if I had overeacted, and as a senstive person at the best of times I cant say because the comments did to me imply something.  So it makes me feel  better that this has turned out this way.
No one should be turned away from an auction just because I bid for it..... saying that there is nothing wrong with emailing about a piece and whether I have one to spare.  Dafrca and Legion4 have done that regarding the leman russ recovery tank and they each recieved one.

I do have a collection thats huge it takes up half a cellar and a wardrobe and most is unpainted.  I have rare models, unreleased models and even masters, but the one thing I remember is that I couldnt have done it on my own because people have gone out of their way to help me get them.  The collection is also not something that makes me better than anyone else and maybe thats why I always try to ensure I dont come across as an arrogant or selfish git.

Hopefully I have explained myself as I do tend to wear my heart on my sleeve. Suffice to say I feel a lot better after reading this.

Doug,

I am glad that you understand now that no hurt or angst was intentional, which made this misunderstanding more tragic.

I have , and have never had, any problem with ANYONE on Ebay - they win because they want to spend more than me. ?Thats fine. ?You collection is legend, and I feel quite hapy to have contributed to that in some small way, because I know my own collection could never hope to even coming near to rivalling it.

My "throw away" remark was made more to target areas in which I have had difficulty collecting rather than any particular cheap shot or jibe. ?I would not do that, particualrly against somebody who I have helped. ?That is why I was so suprised and hurt by your reply above.  However, no model however rare is worth hurting someone or the loss of an "e-buddy"

I am glad that we have been able to sort out this little incident both here and through email. I remain your friend and will gladly help you again in future acquisitions.

Your mate,
Tas
