Apologies for the Necropost - but this subject has piqued my interest.

What is the story behind these MK2 Leman Russ Variants?

I used to have a couple and stupidly sold them when i ditched all my epic stuff a few years back (all the stuff in the photo went to some lucky bugger for about £40 i think!)

I'm just curious as my brother bought them, i'm assuming at our local GW store at the time (1995?) and certainly wasn't privy to any trading of rare minis or anything, and this was all pre-internet too.

as you can see we had the dozer blade, the demolisher/recovery turret and the command/flag one (which i know was released in a blister with the chimera/predator at one point)

The story is L/R Rec were a very limited release like back in '91 (?) ... getting a hold of one ... eBay - maybe ... here - maybe ? As you noted the L/R Cmd w/flag was released during the SM2 era ... again maybe get them eBay or here ... That is the only story I know about the L/R Rec & Cmd ... no mystery ... just GW doing limited releases ... I have them both ... but the LR chassis I choose to use has no D-blade ... And here is a LR w/D-blade, I converted the turret by replacing the main gun with an old 40K Plas pistol ...
