Just Curious, is this thread doing any good?
Are people not placing bids just because a name is on this thread?
Just Curious.

I'm not placing bids fullstop. As I'd been off ebay for some time, I was warned that my 'registration' (or is it a profile?) was being closed - fair enough. I was then also told that I would never again (loose quote here) be allowed to register on ebay, ever again. Humph. So now - until I change my identity - i'm outlawed

vanvlak,
Was that from an email? You do know that is one of the major internet scams right? Send you an email that looks right and then send you somewhere to "verify your info" etc.

dafrca | As far as I can make out, it's the real thing. It didn't ask for details, in fact, just instructed me to go to the ebay site - and the link appeared genuine too, though I didn't follow it. They'd be mailing me to update for a few weeks, and this was the final warning thingy. Not very nice of them. Humph.

I've refrained from a couple based on people whose names I recognized (Including yours, Daf). Mostly, if it's one of those "wow, that's a good deal. I should bid on it" things, I'll skip it if I know the person. OTOH, if it is something that I really want for a collection or for an army I'm building, then I will go ahead and bid.

So far, though, I can't think of any time that I bid against someone I know.

dafrca | If I recognise beforehand that bidder is from Epiccomms then I will either hold off bidding (if I am not too fussed by the item & don't want to bid too high anyway) or send them a PM/e-mail (if I really want the item).
I tend to bid low on a lot of auctions- I win far less than I lose- but if I do win then I am happy that have n't overbid. It's frustrating to lose out on auctions by a couple of pence. But I try know to get into bidding frenzy and always back off if I suspect shill bidding by the sellar.
You win some, you lose some....
Cheers
James

Go to ebay, log on and change your password right away!

dafrca | Hi Vanvlak,
I think that Dafrca is right and that you have been the victim of a scam. The scam artists are clever and often use a web address nearly identical to the actual E-bay one altering only a few numbers or letters. That's how they get passwords.
I never EVER take those links and only log in through E-bay itself. E-bay has its own message system and will not contact you using your regular E-mail anymore. All of those messages are scams.
Shalom, Maksim-Smelchak.

So it sounds like this threaddid cause some people to not bid. Now I wonder if our wins went up or down because of this?
Truth is, I would rather loose to Darkone, Maksim, or other forum member then miss out and have it go to some stranger.
