You guessed it..

TuffSkull

But PLEASE dont hold off bidding against me - I bid very low on the off chance of a cheap shot. If you dont bid against me, someone else will get a great deal & nobody on EpiComms will benefit!

I normally bid at the end, if members have bid already then I only bid if that has been outbid by someone I dont know :;):

This is why this is going to fail...

Example

Capitol Imperialis

Opening Bid

?1

Jimbo bids ?5, bid shown is ?1

Along comes Cyber who also wants it and is willing to pay ?10, but sees my name and decides not to bid.

Later along comes Outside Bidder who also wants it and bids ?6 and wins.

Cyber and Jimbo both fail to get the prize which goes to an outsider.

There are some solutions.

1. Cyber e-mails/PMs Jimbo for information.

2. One Epic bidder notes auctions and bids on behalf of all EpiComms bidders (though the EpiComms person who was willing to pay for it the most may get most stuff)

3. Cyber bids ?10, if the winning bid was ?5 lets Jimbo have it, if it was ?7 then he keeps it.

4. Just bid what you are willing to pay.

Key here is communication, just like Jimbo says.  If we communicate with each other sucessfully everyone comes out better in the end.  Having said that, one must not get upset if someone here outbids them without said communication, because it IS an auction, and sometimes we bid without paying attention to who else is bidding.... (guilty! :p ).  But, given the superb attitudes and personalities of the people here, I don't see too many problems with ebay.

:D

Very true. Starting this thread in no way implies a suggestion to 'hold off' for other EpiComms members. I will never get upset if I get outbid by an EpiComms member (at least whatever it is goes to a new home, and as long as it is not the last 10 minutes), and I expect people to bid against me as normal. If there is anything that I am serious about wanting for a reasonable price, then I will mention it here. In addition, I often dont even look at the current highest bidder, so if I outbid anyone here, I apologies in advance!

(edit) - deleted stupid coment....

First, it is far from being stupid. I'm all in favor of us not crossing each other or engaging in stupid bidding wars; it makes sense considering that, as a rule, we pretty much buy the whole Epic range on Ebay and rarely do we go after one particular piece. This said, a sistematic agreement would be pushing this too far and would, indeed, damage the sellers.

Second, your remark can still be seen in wargame insomniac reply  :p
