I've found this site to be very useful when ordering from companies outside the US:
Exchange rates

Unfortunate for some US distributors of UK products, as it's now cheaper (postage included, depending on the company's shipping policies) to order directly from the UK than it is to purchase from the domestic distributor. Barring the fact that the US distributor of E/W didn't have any of the items I wanted in stock, my order directly from E/W in the UK saved me over $20 compared to the domestic prices (I ordered enough to qualify for free shipping as well).

Most currencies are devaluing except the USD.  With the global economic downturn (read: meltdown) you saw deflation kick in.  Typical safe havens like gold suffered because banks were selling of their bullion to cover their asseTs ('T' is optional) and everyone started buying T-Bills which strenthened the dollar.

Enjoy it while it lasts... My guess is somewhere around September/October 2009 this will radically change.

Yes. For example, Chaos Orc has the Guild Rapid Response Patrol (bikers) pack for $8, while it's 3.95gbp, which as today's exchange rate is $5.77 (and a little lower than when I ordered last weekend). Now I just have to cobble together enough of a DRM order to qualify for free shipping, and I'll be set for a spell.  :))

God, I hope I am wrong! Or we are all totally and completely screwed.  The only way the exchange rate changes at this point (IMO) is if people lose confidence in the dollar in which case it will be the the next to last 'bubble' to burst (the last being the 'debt bubble').

But this is probably not what you wanted to read nor completely appropriate for this forum.

Enjoy the New Year, everyone!  Great prices on all things U.K.!!

Yes, Chaos Orc is the only Yank that carries E/W.  But he has not going get any of the new stuff ... He's going to wait until he sells the old stuff off.  Well, You have convinced me ... I will be making an E/W order and maybe even a GZG Order in the very near future !  8v)  Thanks for the intel Boyz !

Yup.  The dollar tanked early this year, in part because investors began looking at oil as a safe haven (and probably because it was thought that the U.S. economic problems were its own alone.  Of course a global recession makes oil look bad, while Iceland's collapse makes clear just how dire the global economic situation is -- at which point investors fly back to the dollar... perhaps out of habit and reflex, perhaps for political reasons.

Eventually, however, investors will return to reevaluating the fundamentals behind the US$.

Translate: People are going to realize that the U.S. is bankrupt and won't be able to drop the dollar fast enough.  It'll be like a three legged cat trying to bury a turd on a marble floor.

The GBP has actually dropped against nearly all currencies, so it is a good time for most to order from the UK. I know that I am enjoying a pound that only costs 1.76 CDN as opposed to 2.20-2.40 (as it was about 3 years ago)! I feel for people in the UK, though.
