Hi there,

Well, I will start with a confession: I do not have y fleet painted. ?:( ?This is consequence of an awful event 1 year and a half ago, when my whole painted chaos fleet (6k points or so) was lost while in sea transit from the UK to Barcelona ?:( ?:( ? I got so depressed by that that I have not painted a chaos ship since. I have rebuilt my fleet, but the colors of the fleet are silver and grey right now, with the odd primmed section.

Now, I have been challenged to a battlebunker engagement against the spiteful IN in the Night of the Veteran for,.... this Friday!!!! ?:O

So the challenge is this: paint 1500 points for Friday. less than 1 week time, and this when i just returned from a trash weekend in Belgium with no sleep to talk about. In conclusion: I am all up for it! ? :p

Now, I decided to go for the following fleet.

- Desolator  (CSM; MoK)
- Hades
- Hades
- Devastation
- Devastation
- Carnage (CSM; MoK)
- Slaughter

I am unsure if I should change the Carnage for a second slaughter or viceversa, since my carnages and slaughters always seem to work much better in pairs. I want to invest in a pair of marks of khorne, so the plan would be to remove the Carnage. Suggestions? Shoudld I keep the lonesome carnage or not?

Painting:

1) MONDAY: trimming the ships that I need to trim. Prime the diverse sections black or white.

2) TUESDAY: Use dipping in the white sections. Assemble the ships. Start drybrushing the black sections in grey

3) WEDNESDAY: Day off (they play Heroes on TV)

4) THURSDAY: Finish drybrush and detailing.

I think it is feasible, but a little bit tough. let's see if I can do it. I opted for an easy scheme just for that, and because it is a tribute to my old fleet's scheme; it was more detailed, but it is roughly this combo of colors.

Will keep you informed.

Cheers,

Xavi

I'm a pairs man as well - go for the second slaughter!

Go Xavi! :)

Keep the fleet as is. Or downgrade a Hades to a Slaughter and use those points for a Mark.

Looking forward to seeing more... bad luck on losing the first fleet! :(

The desolator and carnage/slaughter already carry CSM with marks of knorne, so I am OK in the area of marks. Downloading a Hades to a slaughter would serve nothing really useful for my fleet, while seriously undergunning my long range fire capabilities against the IN armoured prows (my most common enemy). So I will educately ignore BH's suggestion :p

Still undecided on the carnage/slaughter dilemma.

I just hope that my digital cammera has batteries, since my girlfriend stole my charger for a trip to Portugal. She claims that I astole it from her in the first place (obviously, preposterous statement) so she is only recovering it, but hey.

Just as a footnote, there are no escorts there to minimize the ammount of ships I have to paint.

I have also found that the single Slaughter class has a habit of becoming unsupported. I would not necessarily get a second one, but I would certainly get some support for it - I usually use lance Escorts for this.

I will really be looking forward to this. Good luck.

Disastrous first day.

I discovered that I only had 4 chaos cruisers at home, so had to run to my parent's to get the rest of the fleet ready. Day finished with fleet assembled, but unprimmed as of yet.

Tomorrow it is primming when I get home (20h) and painting at 23-24h. Drybrush of balack parts. Dipping of white parts will be reserved for wednesday. Detailing on thurday.

let's see if the planning goes better from now on.... :(

21h: primming only upper part in black
23h: Drybrushing upper part in grey

WEDNESDAY:
Brown was for lower (white) part
Basecoat (and if possible, paint) the upper details. basecoat grey, up to white (red and yellow for lights).

THURDAY:

Inferior details
Dedicate some time to the Hysterical ExGirldfriend Desolator class battleship. :p Few things inspire such dread in human beings....

24h: Go out partying
Unspecified moment of the night: Die. Several times.

Cheers,

Xavi

Bleh.

It seems that this project will be rife with problems. I discovered that the black primer was empty :( I had to prime all the ships only in white. Painting them in black later today.

This project is starting to get on my nerves. I have not painted with miniatures primmed white in.... 10 years maybe? Result is that I do not know even how to shade the miniature.

Here come 3 pictures. First is of the miniatures just after primming.

http://i180.photobucket.com/albums/x181 ... cam138.jpg

After that, 2 pictures of potential schemes. One with grey and white lines

http://i180.photobucket.com/albums/x181 ... cam143.jpg

And the last one with the white (just primmed) and painting the upper details in black.

http://i180.photobucket.com/albums/x181 ... cam141.jpg

I think I prefer the grey one, but would want to get suggestions on how to improve this (as yet, disastrous) scheme

Thanks in advance.

Y la ultima con fondo blanco (imprimacion, y a tomar pol saco) con linea spintadas en blanco.
I think you mean white background and BLACK detail.  :D

I agree that the grey scheme is nice. How about some wash (my usual solution to everything)? Trouble is I assume you have no time for experiments. The old chestnut or flesh wash are ok, but the appearance is rusty, and you'll probably have to retouch the white. Black ink is another possibility, if applied thinned down with water; again, the white would have to be retouched.
Another idea might be to drybrush the ships in a light grey or sand colour before applying the white detail.
:D
