I seem a little bit out of inspiration about this topic. Has anyone built an space hulk? what did you use?

This articles goes thought the building of a space hulk.

One of the clubs I used to go to build up space hulk boards using 4'x4' board sections with wood for the walls and just detailed the rooms by adding things like card tiles, clear plastic tubes filled with resin and painted alien gribblies inside.  and all sorts of general bits and pieces from peoples junk collections.

I think that this refers to building an actual ship for BFG, rather than 28mm board sections...  :D

As far as I can tell (although I have not built one myself), there are two ways of doing this.

The first is to use a large piece of styrene as a base to represent an asteroid, and add various parts of vessels (see the rule book for details).

The second, and the version that I certainly prefer, is to kitbash a number of vessels. Personally, if I ever get around to it, I was condsidering two Imperial Cruiser hulls to make a catamarang (sp), and then add parts from Chaos, Ork and other ships as much as possible to bulk it out.

Ooops.... thats what you get for just clicking on new posts and not thinking about where they are.

I made a space hulk out of scraps of expanded polystyrene, a piece of coral, a pen eraser, some BFG bits and the lid off a medicine bottle.  Its pretty much mostly chunks of expanded polystyrene though.  Had to make if fast as we needed if for a BFG mega game and Epic BFG cross game (using the space hulk tiles for the interior battle) but it ended up looking quite alright.

Not yet but I can easily take some.  It looks a bit funny because the base positions are not symmetrical (due to lack of planning and rush effort) but I could Photoshop the bases off.

Funilly enought the Eldar player took it out in one turn during the mega battle, so thats all its ever done in a game, flown along for one turn and shot a little bit at one army then next turn the eldar decided to go for it with everything they had and completely destroyed it.

Yerh... inside there is a detailed docking bay with an Ork BattleShip hull being worked on by two massive construction machinez ;)
