Has anyone bought and or used the Ainsty terrain?
How is it? Sturty or fragile? worth the money?
Good or bad opinions welcome.

Sorry Dafrca... I missed this before.
One of the guys at the local game store has some of the fantsay style buildings and from what I've seen i'd personally say that the Ainsty stuff is the rough equivilant of Armorcast.
Some is a little better some is a little worse but that might just have been the conditions of the molds at the time of casting more than anything else.
My 2 cents.

So based on their present cost, would you have bought their stuff?

dafrca | Your quite welcome Dafrca.
As for purchasing stuff from Ainsty... if they actually made anything that would go with any of the games / scales I played I'd certainly consider it.
The main issue for me isn't so much the cost or quality of their items... which genuinely do seem to be decent from the few examples I've seen... so much as the postage costs and duties incurred in shipping from the UK to Canada.
And admitedlly I haven't the foggiest clue of what shipping would be from them so... take my opinion for whatever you think its worth.

I was looking at their floor tiles for SciFi and using with 15mm guys. They even made a door to change the scale of it. I have never seen any in person, just in the photos there and one other site. Looked good, but the cost for a good sized floor plan would be quite high.
One person suggested smaller buys over time, but you just added a new element, the increase in postage smaller buys over time would have.
Thanks for the input.

An alternative to ainsty just occured to me Dafrca.
You might want to look at the Sci-Fi line from Dwarven Forge:
http://www.dwarvenforge.com/1/home.php?cat=270
It's prepainted and ostensibly for 28mm but it may still work for 15mm and since it's (relatively) commonly available in North America you should be able to save some coin on shipping cost by ordering it within the US.
Their fantasy stuff is pretty decent in terms of both sculpts and painting so I'd say it's potentially a good alternative to Ainsty.

Oh, them! Sorry, I had not realised that it was this maker. I had a look at some of their stuff at Colours Con last year. I looked at the tech tunnel as board material for Space Hulk/Advanced Space Crusade. The quality is very good, but I found their prices high, particularly when I wanted enough to make a small Space board. In particular, the selection packs didnt seem to have what I needed.
As for quality, and remembering that I saw the 'showpiece' stuff, the detail and casting was good on them. Value is something that only you can decide, but they are good quality.

Thank you very much. I will have to spend some time looking through their site more tonight at home.

That is why I am moving slow. I do not mind paying for good stuff, but the cost of a reasonable amount to build a nice board goes high very quickly.
I found a website that built a board and he had a few hundred into the board. That is a lot of cash.

Hi Dafrca,
I bought some pieces from way back when and they were of comparable quality to Armorcast, which is to say very good!
Shalom, Maksim-Smelchak.

Thanks Maksim, looks like my Quality worries are gone. Now it is just the costs I need to think about.

Hi dafrca. I had another look at Ainsty terrain at Salute today. I still like their stuff. Where there is detail, it is very good. A few piece could use a bit more detail to break up the flat surfaces, and the price issues remain, but I just wanted to let you know that I still think that they are good at a second viewing.

Thanks CS.
I think I will need to plot out the board and then look at what I will need to get to have that board.
Thanks
