Well, thought I'd start a new thread for my new project, if you didn't read the other thread I posted details of it in, here they are again: what I'm now making (and have been mentioning cryptically for the last few days) is basically a cool little Adeptus Mechanicus research base, with a small radio telescope as its main feature... I'm using an old speaker cone as the sensor dish, supported on a load of plastic stock framework, along with loads of wires, boxes, antenae etc etc.. I plan to have it sit on a small platform that allows it to rotate to point in any direction. I'll be buying a couple of FW buildings for the research labs, workshops, accomadation. etc... It will all eventually go on a fully modelled shaped base, probably around 40cm by 30cm... I may add shuttle landing pads, vehicles and more to it- any suggestions and ideas are very welcome indeed! ? I've so far made up the dish and most of the framework and it looks great, so I'm going to be pretty busy on it the next week or two working on it... | |

Looks great Stormseer. How large will it be when complete? PS - I can send you standard Ad Mech curtain patterns for autentic interior deco; and the dimensions of litter trays used by servo-puss.

Lol, I'll keep your offer in mind vanvlak! -As for size, well, to give you a general idea; the dish and mount are slightly taller than an Imperator.. and I plan to base it all on an irregular-shaped base, cut from an MDF rectangle at the most 40 by 30cm.. |

Did a little more today.. added some wires for cabling to the frame, as well as cleaning up the dish and adding some more supports to the base; three more pics in the briefcase... sorry there isn't anything really exciting as of yet... lol ?

WoW! I missed this thread until now- that will be a fantatsic piece when completed- some really detailed conversion there Stromsser. Way to go! - cant wait to see the end product

I've been doing some more over the last few days- I added some spacer bits made of jetbike bases stuck together in threes and arranged around the 'hub' -this will allow the dish to rotate properly once it and the stand are based.... I also added a few bits of green card round the stand bottom to detail it a bit more and get rid of the large, flat 'clean' areas... Yesterday I hacksawed up an unsuspecting knackered tape player all for the cause of useful bits for the conversion- results are on the two pages the project now has in my Briefcase... When I get my FW buildings and a decent base I'll start sorting things properly and do a test assembly so you can get a good idea of how it will (hopefully) all fit together in the end...

Woo... got my FW package today.. lots of reinforcements for my Eldar along with the buildings and Trojans I need for the project.... ? I should be able to get a decent base tommorow, so it looks like the weekend will see things really getting moving... |

I just blagged me a nice sized bit of MDF from my school D&T department, and jigsawed it all to a good shape... When I get home I'll gather all the bits together and take a few pics... ?
