Jimbo and Gang, I have started my (Jimbo's) latest Epic project... - My intention is to build them as Feral Ork Junkatrukks. |

Sounds like a good idea and should look good. Personally I seem to have a feeling that Junkatrukks should be very truck-like, wheels and no tracks. I did watch a programme once which said that making a tracked vehicles was much much more difficult than making a wheeled vehicle. Do you have any ideas for the Mega-Squiggoth AKA Orkeosaurus? |

I made a bunch of speedfreek trukks last weekend, and I intend to paint them red and grey so I can use them with feral orks and not feel too dirty about it, but I agree they should have their own look. Something like turn-of-the-century automobile prototypes, a la the stanley steamer, would be great. I don't know of any steampunk 6mm lines, but if they are out there, they would be ripe for the picking. Using 6mm chariots for junka trukks could also be cool. Getting a bunch of wolf or boar chariots from a 6mm fantasy line would probably look pretty good next to the boar boyz. Irregular's fantasy line has both. This is in my "still considering Irregular" pile of things to possibly order, along with the war mammoth (squiggoth), rock lobbas and bombards (squig catapults). As far as steam gargants, I intend to use stompas and bulk them up. They are DC4, so they need to be big, but don't need to be huge. I'm thinking a 40mm square base should be plenty. I have the railwars automatons to use for bits. Being that they are "steam" gargants, replacing the feet with model steam train piston-driven wheels would be cool. And, again, a steampunk line would be a good source for bits. Objectives could be all kinds of cool stuff. Lots of medieval and agricultural things would work. 6mm livestock would be amusing. A squig herd could be made from little more than putty balls and a base. A pile of (squig) beer kegs, or a small brewery/tavern. A shrine to Mork or Gork could be made with some 40K icon pieces and some stonework, or just a grove of totem poles, or Orkified Easter island style statues (which should be fairly easy to sculpt from putty). A boneyard, like an elephant graveyard, could be an orky holy site, too. Windmill or waterwheel. Algae farm ponds. Giant nest with a clutch of dino eggs. Weirdboy hut (on stilts, with the obligatory copper rod sticking out the side and down to the ground). |

I have used WHFB Horse Skeletons for Dino bones. I have added Mighty Empire and Warmaster bitz to my Epic terrain pieces. And I did find a 1 inch Easter Island head in a toy set in a Dollar Store. Plus the WHFB Ork Rock Lobber has a stone carved into an Ork head, with I converted to an Orkster Island head for my Epic terrain ... just some thoughts ... ![]() |

Hi all, Squig catapult prototype for Feral Orks up for view at Spec. Games pic of day. Looks a bit WHFB to me! |

I like it, as I think it should look pretty medieval. It should also stop the "but the squig catapults look like vehicles" complaints that have surfaced from time to time. |

Pic of Epic F-Ork Catapult is?neat! ? But I see a disturbing trend with many of the E:A models... the models come on a base?! ? I hope the models and bases are separate! ? I recall the DKoK guns were shown that way too. Has Jervis mentioned this anywhere? ? I don't like models molded on the base. They worried about saving money... don't waste it on bases... use the metal on the actual models. Like they did with the metal infantry, molded individually and not on strips. Someone tell Jervis or I'll do a Tony Soprano move and he and whoever thought up the base & model as one - concept, "will be sleeping with the fishes!" ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() |
