..Not particually packed this month, but still a few interesting little bits 'n pieces....
*********************************************
Hi folks, I'm back! I deviously managed to have Dean sent to Australia for Games Day, had a nice long holiday in Cyprus, and can now reclaim my rightful position as head newsletter writer. Life is good!
November is the end of Forge World's show season, and boy, are we packing them in! I'm jetting off to Barcelona at the end of the week with a couple of other guys from Forge World for Games Day Spain on Sunday November 9th. Here are a few links to some useful pages. http://www.games-workshop.es/comunidad/ ... _2003.html and http://www.games-workshop.es/comunidad/ ... /info.html which has travel information and a map of where Games Day will be. See you there I hope.
The weekend after, Sunday November 16th, Forge World will have a great big stand at the Games Workshop Open Day at Warhammer World in Nottingham. http://www.games-workshop.com/news/uk/e ... efault.htm We will have several of our designers there showing their latest projects and able to answer any questions you may have.
The weekend after that is the final show in the Forge World calendar for 2003. On both Saturday 22nd and Sunday 23rd, Forge World is attending one of our favourite shows, Scale Modelworld 2003 at the Telford International Centre in Telford UK. http://www.users.globalnet.co.uk/~ipmsu ... /index.htm We thunder down the road to Telford in a ridiculously large van with lots of our model kits and painted display models. Once we have set up on the Friday night we have two days of eating stupendously large breakfasts at a truckers cafe we know of, talking to loads of people as mad about models as we are, and filling the van with as many kits and books as our bank balances and credit cards will possibly take. Scale Modelworld is not a show to be missed! Just don't tell your partner how much you've spent!
So if Forge World is going to be at all these shows, have we anything new for you to see? Yup!
Daren Parrwood, the chap who gave us the Space Marine Drop Pod and the Imperial Navy Valkyrie, recently joined Forge World full-time. His first couple of projects have been Tau orientated and I've got some photos of one of them for you today. http://www.forgeworld.co.uk/sentrytpr.htm http://www.forgeworld.co.uk/sentrytm.htm http://www.forgeworld.co.uk/sentrytfb.htm http://www.forgeworld.co.uk/sentrytbc.htm These pictures are of Tau Drone Sentry Turrets, automated, self contained, point defence weapons pods. As I know only how to shoot Tau with my Blood Reaver Space Marines, I asked Paul and Will in the office for some more knowledge on the Tau and how they use Drone Sentry Turrets. Drone Sentry Turrets are air dropped from very low altitude to provide perimeter defence for settlements and newly established landing zones as well as being deployed to harass the movement of an enemy force. Drone Sentry Turrets network in a manner similar to the more common Gun Drones and are a good early warning system for Tau commanders. They can be armed with a variety of weapons as you can see, allowing the Drone Sentry Turrets to fulfil an anti-infantry and light anti-tank role. (Background note: Imperial Guard troops have nicknamed the Drone Sentry Turrets "Mushrooms", a common name for some of the myriad funguses that are found throughout the Imperium).
I think Dean showed you our first Tau ship for Battlefleet Gothic a few weeks ago didn't he? Well Will Hayes was the man responsible and he has just made another Tau ship, in less than a day! http://www.forgeworld.co.uk/warden.htm This is the Tau Warden Class gunship. This is an escort size ship that travels through the warp linked to a Tau capital ship using one of the larger ship's Gravitic Hooks. And yes, there are more ships and at least two great space stations to follow soon!
Space Marines have a hard life. Defending the vastness of the Imperium against numerous alien races and traitors every day, AND being shot at constantly while doing it I think entitles Marines to be a little paranoid. They wear Power Armour AND drive to work in a Rhino armoured personnel carrier. You would think that would be enough for most people but NO! Marines want even more protection! You know we make additional amour packs for both Land Raiders and Rhinos? We do, trust me. Now we make Predator Reinforced Armour too. http://www.forgeworld.co.uk/predra.htm I like the way the armour really changes the shape of the turret.
The Tau Drone Sentry Turrets and Space Marine Predator Reinforced Armour for 40K, as well as the BFG Tau Warden Class and Emissary Class ships, are all available to pre-order now on the Forge World online store and over the phone too. http://www.forgeworld.co.uk/acatalo....11.html There is a pretty good chance we could have some pre-release examples of these new models available to buy at both the Games Workshop November Open Day and Scale Modelworld 2003 mentioned above. Warwick is working on rules for the Tau Drone Sentry Turrets and the BFG Tau Warden class and Emissary class ships which will be posted on our website's Downloads section soon.
Okay folks, it's scare tactics time. If you place a mail order for Christmas to be sent to the USA, Canada, Australia or anywhere else outside of Europe, we have to have received it by December 1st. If we are to ship to an address in Europe we need to have received it by December 8th, If we are shipping to a UK address then we need the order here by December 15th. These orders should then arrive one or two days before Christmas. If you want your order to arrive before this please place your order well before the dates shown above or ask about our EXPRESS DELIVERY service. If you do leave it too late we can still try to help. Our EXPRESS DELIVERY service should still get your order to you for Christmas as long as you get it to us by December 15th. These dates could change as we get closer to Christmas and the postal services start to slow down. I'll keep you all up to date on the Forge World homepage and in future newsletters. Thx,
Ewen Little, Forge World.
