Hi! I was curious to find out how many people have actually attempted to cast models in resin, whether they be copies or scratch sculpts and would like to share their experiences. How difficult is it? How costly? How good are the results? Please keep the thread responses to personal use and such, refrain from posting about making many copies and selling them, lets keep this thread nice and legal. ![]() Primarch |

My recent forray onto the terrain making aspect of things had peaked my intrest in resin casting. I have been doing some reaserch on the stuff. Looking up costs and materials. It can get pricey. The better you want your stuff to come out. The more you have to spend. Typical. Latex is cheaper than silicone for making the mold but, doesn't have the detail or durability of silicone. There are also different resin compounds. Air bubbles are the main problem. It is a trial and error process. Unless, you spring for a vaccume to suck the air out. Another cost. I will start casting in a few months. I was going to start sooner but, we are trying to buy a house and that is a money killer. Especially, where I am. Wince you are intrested, I will start posting information as I find it. There are a few good links for beginners. I will post some of those as well. Provided our hosts don't object. ![]() |
