Hi there

as some of you may have gathered I have recently been sidelined in doing stuff other than Epic...

most of this stuff is looking after my new son

however I have also been doing some Warhammer 40K and the link below takes you to some pictures of my models, including my latest an Ork Trukk and Ork Wartrak

Felix's Orks & Gretchin Gallery

Comments welcome :o

The trukk and trakk look good, just a little clean. I think they need Orkying.  Maybe add a little dust around the wheels etc.

I found the Ork trukk far too small to carry the Boyz (I like to actually have them onboard during the game.)  So I converted a longer platform.  I now have a track on the rear instead of the wheel, as it was too long for just one wheel.  Two or three wheel would have worked too though.  I also have roll bars over the cockpit, with a canvas roof.  And hanging over the side of the trukk is a rigger with a spanner in his hand, performing repairs as they go along.

I realise your Orks are based for city fight, but it kind of makes the bases look unfinished.  Could you paint the bases a darker grey and then highlight a light grey over top.  It should make enough of a difference.

they are little too clean, but they are at what I call "gaming" stage, I can put them on the table and feel okay about them.

dare I say it that the bases are "unfinished"

AHHH, fair enough.  I thought they were finished.  What is the next step for them?  Are they for cityfight?

The terrain looks good.  My only advice would be to build a few multi stories buildings.  They are very handy for LOS and targetting the weaker top armour of tanks.  Also, there's a few scenarios in which you need a tall building as the objective.  Apart from that though, it should provide very good games.

Hey Jimbo- yeah, I like the scenery too, it looks well constructed and suitibaly "urban" and Imperial. Hehe, tho I have to say, I did think I was looking at black & white pictures for the first few photos  ...A few more colourful objects, barrels, etc might make it look even better...

the tall buildings....

they were my responsibility...

alas very little time...

many years ago I built some city terrain for a demonstration game at Salute, called Destroy All Monsters (Godzilla). One oif the better buildings I built were two tower blocks built from expanded ploystyrene planters. They were about 24" high so "wrecked" they should look good.

coughs

some of the pictures were in fact digital altered as the tiles were placed on a brown table protector and looked "silly" so I digital altered parts of the picture turning them black and white

A few more colourful objects, barrels, etc might make it look even better...

I know Simon thought about this, but if you look at the scenery in action

and

it does work quite well

Jimbo,
Just how many years ago was this?

Having managed to miss you at various events when I've known who you are (Games day - every time I saw Carl U seemed tyo have just been by ?:;): ) I have a feeling we may have met previoiusly without knowing it! I certainly watched a Godzilla style game the first time I went to Salute!

oh that was quite a few years ago...

IIRC it was 1994/5 and the game was called Destroy All Monsters featuring lots of buildings and 1/76 scale M24 Chaffee tanks (and a very large godzilla).

IIRC it also won Best Participation Game, but that may have been Full Thrust the year before....

memories go after a while

*thinks aloud*
Born 1982.
Went to first Salute aged 13/14.
*Starts getting confused & counts on fingers...*

Yup, I reckon if it was 1995 that you ran the game its the one I'm thinking of! Weird.

You wouldnt remember me, I was a tiny kid (Not exactly a Basketball player now as BlackSnotling pointed out at GamesDay... :p ) so would probably have looked about 10 to you! And I have to say that I have no recolection of the people at the show - first big show, its all a haze of miniatures, paints and spending hard earned cash on stuff i never knew I wanted!

Still, its a freaky coincidence I couldnt help but enquire further about - I'll let you all return to topic now, Sorry  :D

BTW - your 40K stuff is cool. I've been working on Warhammer / LoTR lately and its been a shock to go up a few scales. I hadnt relised how much I've got used to 15mm and below & anyone who has a complete painted army for the larger scale games demands my respect!

Hey I didn't say you were short as such. Somebody must have made that up :L (*looks at darkone26, then pokes for causing trouble* ). You must bear in mind I am 6'3" so anyone under 6' looks like a child to me :;):
