First 6mm undead started
Image
Not based as ill do the whole army at once at the end.
The skelie test stands i did ages ago (2 years+?) were red, but since i have a habit of painting everything and anything 6mm in red i swapped to turquoise … then realised my beastmen are in blue. Seems blue is my new red.

They look good, especially if you're doing a large force of them - the swords in particular are nicely done, a real ethereal look to them.

It's strange how the brain forgets colours one's recently painted. I once painted up a Kraytonian test piece for Doug / DRM (the Arkator at the top of this gallery: http://hobbybrush.com/scifi/6mmsow/displaykrayt/ ) and wanted to do something different. I thought "I've not seen anything in green and bone, that might make them stand out as alien"

Later that day I went to package another commission, who's payment had just come through.... it was part of the dark angels force seen here: http://hobbybrush.com/scifi/40k/darkangels/

D'oh! Exactly the same colours, only painted a week before!

And so the black fade style Kraytonian scheme was born, and that WAS different :)

Anywaw, I look forward to seeing more 6mm skeles - keep it up!

Wow, those skellies came out amazing. I haven't had much time to paint of late, but I am nearly done with some wood elf spears and forest giants, just have to highlight the dirt and add some grass:

Yep, that looks pretty much like my situation Tuffskull ;D don't think id looked through your kraytonian gallery before, nice to see some different angles from the DRM store. Torrak knights look particularly fine.

Great looking elves despot, the purple hue on the chest/face of the giant is very effective. Looking foward to seeing eagles and owlbears ;D Think i might go for soft pastel tones for my woodelves, washes over white base, although i do like the darker side of woodevles as well, hmmm ::)

Made a small paper modle hamlet for 6mm fantasy by shrinking the warmaster building nets found here:
http://www.brumbaer.de/Wm/Build/

Even using inkjet on cheap 80gsm paper i think these came out pretty well:

Slow progress with the undead, but the spearmen are now painted and im experimenting with basing options.

The house did indeed come out very well. A nice alternative to lots of little resin buildings

Superb diorama :)

Do you think the roofs would look better a little darker? Maybe lightly sponge on some grey/brown paint.

Yep a deeper slate hue might look better now you mention it. Sponging might work or i could just reprint darker roof pieces, but I probably wont get round to that any time soon. If I was going to put more effort in id probably completely remake them in more robust material anyway, or scratch build and cast releif detailed buildings in resin/plaster.

What weight of paper did you use, Apoc? I'm going to go out and get some heavy stuff today; I have a lack of Warmaster terrain.

80gsm inkjet printer paper, regular/cheap stuff. Id probably re-do in 160--200gsm.

Okay. I'm planning on getting 80lb, which is in the range you would redo in.

Considering its only done on cheap paper - that Villiage looks great!
6mm Fantasy is about the only time I'd consider paper terrain. I made a 6mm fortress years (about 12 I think... gulp...) ago from card, but the stonework was just a pattern glued on top. These are definitely a step nicer!

I've been painting lots of 28mm Romans, World of Twilight (NOT vampires!) and 6mm Kraytonians this festive season.

Just completed the annual tour of the workbench & cabinets on my blog with pictures of it all, so if you're really bored, take a look ;)

I finally managed to actually paint something. Here's my whopping 15pt Warmachine army. Er, actually, it's missing Reinholdt. I wanted to support a local games dealer and ordered my minis from there instead ebaying. After two months of waiting I still hadn't got the bugger and was none the wiser about when, if ever, he's gonna arrive. So I canceled the deal and did some ebaying and now at least he's on his way.

Anyway, here's Ashlynn D'Elyse, a Mule and Gorman di Wulfe. I paint strictly to the (in)famous "good enough to play with" standard as I'd rather spend hours pplaying than painting a single figure. Ashlynn and Mule I just painted and then treated to a liberal dose of Army Painter Quickshade. Gorman I had to do the hard way as he's mainly black.
