Had an extra CBT CAR Hull ... so I thought I'd try my hand at making a "Splinter Shield" ... ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() |

Good work L4. The scratch built triguns are excellent. |

Thank C/C !! I used Evergreen StripStyrene. The gunshield is 2.5mm Channel. Cut into about 3mm Sections for the 3 guns. The barrels are 2mm tube aprox. 3mm long. The tri-barrel receiver(the rectangular part behind the shield) is 2mm square rod cut to about 4mm. The gun mounts are 1.5mm square rod cut about 4.5mm long. Glued on the inside hull. And the "tri-barrel" Receiver Super glued on top. I glued the gun system together first. Then glued it on the mount, once it was glued on the inside hull. The 4 Splinter Shield supports are the 1.5mm square rod cut about 6.5 mm long. Glued in each corner of the inside hull. I basically used the Old Crow weapons/crew/shield insert as a guide for all measurements ... and "swaged" (Scientific Wild-Assed Guess) from that plus looking at pics from Slammer Handbooks and The Crucible ... The Splinter Shield was made from Scale Scenics Micro-Mesh. Cut to size and shape of the shield on the Old Crow insert. About 12mm long and 6mm wide at the rear and narrows down to the front to about 5mm. And glued it on top of the supports. Again I used the Old Crow insert as a guide ... John Treadaway(my Slammer Mentor !) suggested I try to mount an optional Anti-mine Launcher on the front hull and long range antenna ... so I'll try that next ! ![]() ![]() ![]() |

As requested by John ... I added an Anti-Mine Launcher and long range antenna ... Again using StripStyrene, cutting a 2-3 mm square rod, aprox. 5mm long to fit part way across the front skirt, and bevelling the front edge. To make the A-ML. Then cutting a 1-2mm round rod about 4-5 mm long and gluing it between the right rear support strut and rear access door ... to make the long range Antenna ... ![]() ![]() |
