What do I think? She's great! The first and foremost thing is that she really looks like a bretonina grail damsel! In the interest of constructive criticism: Likes: Breasts. I generally like them, but these are a nice pair, beautifully done. The whole breast/neck/collar bone is very good and I know from experience how hard it is! Smoothness: You've got some serious control there. Eyes and lips: look great. Hips & belt. Very natural pose, very dramatic and attractive. Dislikes: Nose. After staring at her face trying to figure out why she looks a bit like a Trukker, it's the nose. Now, it's a nicely sculpted nose, it's just that she's got a snozz like the Cos, to quote the Bloodhound Gang. I would seriously suggest you take off her nose and give her a smaller pointier nose. Hair: It's a bit flat. I would really go over the ends of the hair and have them all being swept by the wind, look at the new daemonettes for inspiration. Individual strands curling at the ends would give it a lot more life. Dumpy. Sorry, she just looks short. And this is why: she's not quite proportioned right. Her head is a tiny bit big (but that's not so bad), but her legs are too short. I would hack off the bottom few mm and make her taller (even if that makes her bigger than 28mm, it will be worth it!) Let me show you what I mean: The distance from bottom of crotch to the head should be equal to the distance to the feet. If you superimpose that on your model, her feet should be here: ![]() I'd give her longer legs (hey, if you're sculpting an ideal woman why not give her longer legs?). Her knees seem to be in the right place, all you need to do is extend out the bottomo of her dress - she looks like she's had her feet cut off! All in all, a very nice sculpt though, and all criticism is intended to be constructive! Better than I can do but I'm inspired to try my hand at some 28mm sculpting myself (you can get your own back then!) |

Grand ![]() ![]() ![]() Dunno, I like her look - a bit stern and snotty, but if she's a sorceress you'd expect that ![]() |

Thanks for the comments guys - feedback is always appreciated! LI, I'm unsure about changing the nose - I'm worried that if I make it smaller she'll end up with the upper lip section too big / long, if you see what I mean. As for the hair, I'm afraid that down to my expeience with mouldmaking! I try and avoid anything which might rip the rubber... not a problem for GW's plastics, thanks to that lovely steel tooling! But I might just add a few windswept ends and worry about moulds later... The photo's angle is not the best, the picture looks a bit fore-shortened, as her legs aren't that different in length than her body. Are you sure that the distance from bottom of crotch to the head should be equal to the distance to the feet? The anatomy book I work from says below the crotch should be 88% of the length above - that's what I used, so she's 15mm from crotch to top of head, and just over 13mm below. I could be persuaded to chop the bottom section off and lengthen her, but there's a lot going on on the back of the figure there, so it would be a big job. Thanks for the input - I'll sleep on it and see how I feel about picking up the razor saw in the morning... Regards, Reaver |

She has a face like a Bratz doll! (From the Dad who likes to say no when the topic is raised.) |

I think it's great, though I do think her face looks more 'eldarish' than human, not sure exactly what it is. Proportionally looks fine to me, maybe a fraction longer in the leg but not anything like LI suggests (though as it is a fantasy fig as he suggests so could be elongated to that degree ![]() GW has worse minis quite often so I'd still be proud to own your Brettonian (any idea on when it's being casted?) |

Quote: (Reaver @ 31 Jul. 2008, 19:17 ) LI, I'm unsure about changing the nose - I'm worried that if I make it smaller she'll end up with the upper lip section too big / long, if you see what I mean. Not smaller so much as ... thinner. Less bulbous (yeah, I know I'm dissing your lady, what you going to do about it?  ![]() Actually, I think her nose could be a little longer (extend a tiny big further down her face) - it just needs to be less pronounced. As for the hair, I'm afraid that down to my expeience with mouldmaking! I try and avoid anything which might rip the rubber... not a problem for GW's plastics, thanks to that lovely steel tooling! But I might just add a few windswept ends and worry about moulds later... Ah, a casting thing. Well, fair enough. But I would still try and get the ends particularly at the base of the hair (the side is being blown out, why not the base?) Which you should be able to do without needing to have any fiddly bits. Just add some strands running on top of the hair (that way they're not sticking out) in the direction of the wind. Does that make sense? The photo's angle is not the best, the picture looks a bit fore-shortened, as her legs aren't that different in length than her body. More pics!  ![]() Are you sure that the distance from bottom of crotch to the head should be equal to the distance to the feet? I could be persuaded to chop the bottom section off and lengthen her, but there's a lot going on on the back of the figure there, so it would be a big job. Fairly sure. Let me find some images to back me up. From: http://www.farlowstudios.com/content/view/60/56/ ![]() So this model is 8 heads high, and at the bottom of the crotch is where the 4-heads area should be. Entertainingly, this tutorial exclusively uses the euphemism "private area" as if to call it anything else would be indecent... ![]() With some fleshing out. So the very bottom of the crotch is at 4-heads (don't be confused by that blue line in the hip - that's the line of the hips, not a "head line" if you know what I mean). Now, all women are not like this. But when sculpting, it's worth going for ideal proportions. Some women are just dumpy!  ![]() Hmm... that's a nice pose. I might try sculpting that pose myself... Thanks for the input - I'll sleep on it and see how I feel about picking up the razor saw in the morning... I think it'd be worth it!  ![]() Seriously, she's damn good. Just have a look at GW's Willem Dafoe elf chick to remind yourself you're doing great! ![]() |

Very good work. Maybe next time try to make her a bit taller. The face is cool, but you can improve it too in the future (well human faces are already hard to paint, they must be a hell to sculpt ![]() Congratulations anyway. |
