Hi, long ago I ordered a Flame of Asuryan but it missed a keel part (where the stand goes). GW did send me a new model within a week so that was okay. But now I wonder if people could give me tips on how to build a similar part. I tried special clay but that was too flimsy. I know I should have used the part from the new model to make a cast out of it, but, noob I was and now it is painted and glued. Other ideas? Pics can be shown.... |

Could you use parts from the 40K Eldar Jet Bike or dark Eldar Jet Bike as a substitute, the part that joins the bike to the flying stand? |

You could use the plastic sprues to get the basic frame underneath, cutting and shaping to follow the bottom of the ship where it will attach. Then drill the hole where the stand will go and attach the post. Then you cover it with the clay and shape to match the other ship. I personally would prefer to use the epoxy clay, not special clay. Similar to green stuff where you have to mix the 2 ingredients together. We have one that is used for piping and when it sets, it becomes the consistency of stone. If you want something easier to sand, then there's also one used for wood. |

grmbl, written an answer but TacCom went out of the sky.... Well: Plasticard would be another option. Yesterday I had another try: raider clay from my Daughter, cheap, brand: DAS. Hardens without going into the oven. And it worked good! Was quite satisfied how it turned out in the end. I now have 3 seperate pieces for the keel, with premade hole for stand. Since it is keel and the side riggers hide it a little when looking from a side I think this is a real good thing I made for tabletop quality. Much better then what I had: upside Chaos bridge, smoke launcher and a reversed launch bay to bulk it up. |

The last clay version is it. Started painting the vessel and it looks really good. |
