I fancied having a go at a non ork build.
This will be a Pre-Heresy styled LandRaider.
Ive reversed the Hull to give it a more classic profile and will be making sponsons for it like those pictured on the ForgeWorld site. Given its more WW1 like profile I think these sponsons are much more fitting.
Alot of thoughtful cutting has to be done to get everything to fit, but if done correctly the peices fit together nicely when reversed.
Ive done this reversing before for a Looted LandRaider and have refined the tecneek, so this one is pretty seamless ;)

Ive used a bit from the LandRaider's sponson as a housing over the twin bolters. Its blended into the hull and not rotational, Ive also used a square base and bit of inner door Ive fashioned a vision slit making the front look more like the FW Pre-Heresy model.
Then I cut the door flap thing above the ramp down and reshape it so the teeth interlock with those on the ramp.

An open engine bay just didnt look right but I wanted all them werky bitz to be visable so Ive added a hinged engine cover.
I also wanted to make the exhaustz look more like the ForgeWorld one so Ive removed the four exhaust tops and replaced them with two beefier ones... simple but effective I think.

I prefer this new design as the engine and exhaust system form a proppa 'block' at the rear, instead of just having some fancy exhausts that sort of blend into the shape of the hull.

Then I started work on the sponsons. They're pretty much identical to the ForgeWorld onez though the picz of the FW site could be better. Still... they suit the reversed hull much better than standard sponsons.
Added the twin LazCannonz. They have about a 135 degree arc.
Modified the rear doors so the hinges are on the side like normal doors. They're profile is raised instead of flush with hull as I think this looks more pre-heresy like.
Also added some rails across the top.
Thats pretty much all the mayor construction done so its just a matter of adding a few rivets and other such finer details.

Indeed. No longer will these Space Marines get a LazCannon in the head when they exit from the sides... which is always a bonus :;):
Plus, with the LazCannons sitting some 2" futher forward they can make better use of thier relatively short range.

Better than the FW one :)
Don't sell this one, Krooza, because I'd be strongly tempted! :) :) :) :)

Great work, "K" !  And it always bothered me with the recent version of the Land Raider ... That the  Las-cannons were in the way of the troop doors ?!?! ???  You seemed to have fixed that !  :D

Leave it to the GW Enginseers! LOL  I always went against the SDT and put the sponsons where they were supposed to be, forward of the hatches!

Again, awesome looking conversion.  Very WW1 reminiscent.

Yeah, I don't get what made them think that putting the Weapons so they'd block the Troops exiting ??!  That does not pass the "common sense test" ! ???  But Like I said "K" fixed that ! :D  Too bad the E:A L/Rdrs are the "standard backwards version (SBV)" ! :( I dont know if I want to go thru the trouble(!) to "fix" it !!!

Interestingly the FW Epic Grey Knights Land Raider has the sponsons positioned in the sensible way. I guess Will Hayes too felt that the design was goofy :D

It's all Gav's fault, he is to blame.

Herez the finished build.
I did some more work to the engine area. Covered up some of the cooling vents as there seemed to be too many with this new engine setup.
Other small additions here n there.
